Over the last couple of days:

Dirty_harry.jpgMagnum_Force.jpg

I've got three out of the four of these. Guess which one I haven't got.

You don't have Salem's Lot because you're a scare-dee cat!

Haha..! :P

Have you not seen Salem's Lot?? You need to see that ASAP if you haven't. I want to watch it again and I've only just seen it, and I've seen it about 45 or 50 times altogether by now.

Sydney Poitier is a cool mofo. He can beat half a dozen bozos with a stick and STILL keep his suit in perfectly pressed condition. He's like Denzel Washington's classy uncle who Denzel always idolized.

Yesterday before I went to sleep, I watched this movie:

http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMTY4NzcwODg3Nl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNTEwOTMyMw@@._V1_SX214_AL_.jpg

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338013/?ref_=nv_sr_1

It was kinda weird, but it was good. A kinda different Carrey-movie.

I really like this one.

Haven't seen Salem's Lot in about 30 years, or maybe even when it originally came out. BUT I do remember it being really good, and one of the VERY few good vampire flicks. I should check that out again.

I love The Man Who Haunted Himself. Moore shows some great acting chops, and proves that he can play more than just Bond/the Saint type roles.

Yeah you need to see that again, even though it's been 36 years it's still great. And yeah it looks of it's era, very 70's, but I think that's where it belongs and it suits the material.

Moore does a great job of creating two versions of the same man which is no easy feat for any actor.

Sunshine.

Directed by Danny Boyle, starring Cilian Murphy & Chris Evans among other good cast members. Started out interesting enough (though with a standard plot of saving humanity from our dying sun), well-executed set/production/sci-fi tone. THEN, in the last 20-30 minutes it morphed into a quasi-horror flick for whatever reason. A bit of a disappointing ending because of the sudden detour into another genre makes this flick drop considerably.

Grade: C-

I personally think this is dreadful. A terrible Event Horizon wannabe.

"C-" isn't exactly good. And if it didn't have actors I actually liked and that I think did well, it'd likely get a "D" from me. As for Event Horizon, I fell asleep about 30-40 minutes into it and woke up as the credits were rolling. But I wasn't sleepy/tired prior to walking into the cinema. That sucker would get an F.

I had to Google the Diagnosis Murder part, thinking that Dick Van Dyke had something to do with it, even though he wasn't credited on the DVD cover, and then discovered it was released at least 15+ years before him.

Point is, since I wasn't aware of this - any good?

Diagnosis Murder is pretty good. It's a thriller about a guy plans to murder his wife and after drugging and kidnapping her he sends fake tip-off notes to the police to get them to investigate and look for a body that isn't there, so he can put himself in the clear. Then once searches have been made and no evidence is found he can dispose of his wife at his leisure. Christopher Lee plays the bad guy, Jon Finch plays the smarter than he looks detective. Its a bit like a British version of Columbo but not as good. There's a sub-plot concerning the cop's girlfriend who plans to get rid of her wheelchair-bound husband which helps to create a twist ending.

No I hadn't seen this one before JB. I don't remember it being on TV back in the day either. It's got a pretty weak plot which is similar to Theatre of Blood with an actor going mad and murdering people but this one is nowhere near as good. It's a drab film actually and it uses a lot of stock footage of old Price flicks to pad out the film and to serve as the character's career highlights. It's almost like a tribute to Vincent Price rather than a proper film. There's no Madhouse in the film either and in fact there's no particular house where the action takes place, it's a stupid title really. The only thing that makes it worth watching is Price and Peter Cushing who deliver the goods as usual.

This is a disappointingly dull anthology film from 1977 with a "cats are evil" theme. Despite having a great cast including Peter Cushing, Ray Milland, Donald Pleasence, John Vernon and Samantha Eggar this one is boring as hell. The framing story (Peter Cushing, Ray Milland) is the only one that's any good, the rest of it is a waste. Donald Pleasence must have thought Halloween was a godsend after this.
