I watched it but I find it lacks "rhythm".I found it hard work but it was watchable. The writer is James Ellroy and L.A. cops are one of his specialties but in this case it lacked flow and like you say rhythm. You can clearly hear Ellroy's unique voice in the lines Woody delivers each time he spouts a retort to his superiors in various meetings, played by Sigourney Weaver et al, but they sounded out of place coming from this character in this situation. Woody plays the part well but the film doesn't completely work the way it's supposed to and the plot seems overcomplicated. I gave up watching it :)I watched it but it wasn't a satisfying ending, at the end his career appears to be over after another meeting with Ice Cube who he tries to make a deal with but is refused.
