Segue Myles
http://www.filmequals.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/the-monuments-men-movie-poster.jpg The movie doesn't do the story justice. I find it gets a little shallow at times, and thus try to instill some seriousness into it but not done that well. You know what? This is perfectly watchable stuff. Nothing wrong if all you are looking for is a light hearted Sunday afternoon war movie... But considering rhe fascinating subject matter and the phenomenal cast, this is a really poor movie. It should have been something grand, something special! Paul Veorhoven crafted a masterpiece out of largely fictionalised events around a world war two setting, that was both intensely moving and invigorating in its action and spot on script/acing/casting. That film was Black Book. I think Monuments Men could have been on the same level as that masterpiece if only it had a little push...or a European director and smaller budget haha! Americans rarely make good war movies now. Sorry, but it's true! They tend to be silly or overly soppy
Babycat
http://images.moviepostershop.com/world-war-z-movie-poster-2012-1020754940.jpg I am currently reading the book. Far more interesting, although my hope is that there will be a few more versions of this film released, not sequels exactly, but different accounts of the same plague. If you haven't, read the book. It is addictive! It's got to be more interesting than the movie, which was a bit boring. The book is a collection of "interviews" from survivors of the "war". Every action scene I have read in the book so far tops the dullness of anything in the movie. It has a biting edge to it regarding politics, and it allows the reader room to breathe, fill in the gaps, and put themselves in the scenario. My opinion? This book is unfilmable. It just doesn't work as a film, as the quality is all on paper. I have heard good reports for the audio recording as well, which uses different voice actors for each account. Try the book. Ignore the film (its just another dull zombie movie). Good to know. I didn't know that was how the book was. I'll check it out. Do so...it is one of the best books I have read in years, very clever and so realistic I often think about researching the events online before I realise its fiction! I think I'm the only one who likes this movie..! :P

EagleMoon
http://i.imgur.com/vgLxobg.jpg I thought this movie would have been great if they'd left Danny DeVito's Penguin out of it. He was just icky.

Probably because they knew no one could match Burgess Meredith's performance which was a more like the comic books.

Had no idea Robin was in it even though he wasn't listed in the credits. I immediately thought, "Whoa, that funny guy from GMV and Comic Relief!" Saw it on Netflix years ago and it holds up very well. Gilliam is one of my top 5 favorite directors ever. My dad was a fan of his as well. I remember he loved Time Bandits. I enjoyed the first one, but mainly because of the WW2 setting. But I loved it! Plenty of Samual L. Jackson, a cool Robert Redford...and even Jenny Agutter gets to kick some ass.

Segue Myles
Princess Mononoke As far as epic fantasy goes, this stunning japanese animation takes the cake! For my money a nore rewarding, and haunting experience than the likes of Lord Of The Rings. Deserves multiple viewings, as it is definitely a grower. But the artwork is divine!
