Zero Dark Thirty - Most predictable ending ever -

It was really good - Haven't seen Argo so can't compare it - Bigelow has a way of making everything seem so real -

I hear Argo's ending is totally predictable.

This is a slightly different take on the Jekyll and Hyde story, where Hyde is portrayed as a soft spoken smoothie, who charms people...at first. The interesting thing to me was how different the actor playing both roles looked as each one. When he first became Hyde I was like, wait a minute...different actor? And they made him look different just with a beard, bushy eyebrows and a different hairstyle. A decent performance by the guy made it work as well, he had a crazy grin that was very Mr Hyde. Christopher Lee scores too as a degenerate gambler and womaniser, and Oliver Reed makes an early appearance as a thug boozer who gets a beat down.

Wasn't Barry Lyndon just freaking sad? Not a well promoted kubrick film. Wonder why?

That's Scorsese's favourite Kubrick film, and Ridley Scott too I think...

not sad the sense of a poor movie...just the story. Wished he would've made Napoleon. He didn't make many films too bad for us. Ryan O'meal had some good moments.

Yeah I knew what you meant. I haven't seen it myself for ages, early 80s maybe...

it still holds up...the only aspect that seems dated are the battle scenes. Otherwise the kraft is outstanding

I just saw Barry Lyndon for the first time about a month ago. It's not my favorite but it's still great. My favorite of Kubrick's would probably be A Clockwork Orange or Dr. Strangelove. But something like Full Metal Jacket I can watch a billion times (and I have). Hell, even something subpar (for Kubrick) like Eyes Wide Shut I found to be quite watchable (and it's not just because of Kidman's ass!!!). ha! And something like 2001 is like Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon...it deserves every bit of praise it can get.

2001 never gets old to me...I've realized that most of the Sci-Fi films i used to enjoy are just child's play compared to this film...get the DVD commentary with Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood—you learned so much about the process of making this grand movie.

Yeah, I got that! Some interesting stuff in there eh

There should be a new Jekyll Hyde flick with YOU as the dual character. The difference would be that you'd go apeshit as both the murderous Mister duck and as the civilised Doctor tree. Hell, you could even play the degenerate gambler/womaniser AND the thug boozer who gets a beat down.

Probably my new favorite movie, move over Apocalypse Now...

Probably Sean and Michael at the top of their game...Sean's finest IMO. John Huston was a great director and a perfect fit for the cast.

Interesting combination. One film I like very much the other I loathe. Both have good theme songs though. Duran Duran and Sheena Easton.

Here's another combination from last night:

Going to watch a Freddy movie, because f**k sleeping.

The 3rd one is the best.

Agreed!

You guys are on acid. Freddy ain't no comedian. He's a killer!....or at least he should've kept on being one. Then again, I guess part 3 did its job since that flick really was a f***ing nightmare!;)

3 has the best kills, it comes in a close second to the original, but is my personal favorite.

I can't be the only one that doesn't like any of them except the first...can I? The 2nd one was awful but part 3 was like one of those cheesy superhero flicks. And that's saying a lot coming from someone with "JohnnyBlaze" as their sn and a Ghost Rider avatar. :blaze:

Flight. Good movie with another superior performance from Denzel.

Nice to see Zemeckis do quality live action work after too many creepy looking CGI animated films.

The Master

Saw it already at a local art house theater but I made a rare re-watch rental with a Redbox code because there was nothing else good out there this week, it's an awesome movie with my favorite actor (PS Hoffman) and PT Anderson is the f'ing man.

This was pretty good, but there's no way it's anywhere close to being the best Bond film. I like how the ending sets up the next few films. Fiennes will make a good M.

An excellent entry in the series, George Lazenby could have made a very good Bond if he'd stuck with the series. The score here is one of the best, the opening theme reoccured of course after this in subsequent films the same way the original Bond theme from Dr No did.
