Men's Tennis

Why?

And what about women's tennis? Or do Halep's jiggling and other jigglers make tennis tolerable?

I enjoy watching women's tennis.

Yeah? There just aren't many consistently very good players in the WTA. Only Kerber this year has been able to give Serena a show. Radwanska--smart and agile but just not enough meat. Halep--athletic but never enough consistent firepower to beat Serena when it matters most. Kvitova and Keys--have big weapons but their shots often go all over the place. Venus--great talent with heart but a mere shadow of what she once was...yet she's STILL a legit top 10 which shows how weak the WTA is.

When people bump old threads to quote a post that was made five years ago

Yeah, I came to that conclusion a while back...I ALWAYS check the tread date....it's fun, sometimes, to revive a thread by NECROPOSTING!!!

I've been guilty of that a few times......

Nothing wrong with reviving old threads. Besides, of all the posts since this one's revival, only one referred back to something from the distant past.

TRFers revive Rush threads all the time and nobody says anything (and rightly so).

That's right. What's wrong with reviving old threads? Like you said, it is done often around here.

Many old threads here are real gems!

I have really enjoyed the recent ones with photos from Johnny Blaze's world travels! On a different note, I have never laughed so hard as when reading the Groupie Barbie thread from on old tour that someone revived this summer. I miss her . . . . :notworthy:

Sports.

(But I will keep occasional tabs on how the Green Bay Packers are doing throughout the season. Might even watch a game.)

I'm finding it more and more difficult to follow sports. Not sure exactly why but they are all losing some of the interest I once had.

Could it be the sports media's ever-growing obsession with irrelevant BS - such as Kaepernick not standing for the anthem, or Odell Beckham's antics, or any other tabloid issue....??

I want to watch the GAME, damnit. I have ZERO interest in anything else......

Yeah, those bumps of my past travels came about through fun discussions with Lucas. He wasn't around TRF when I originally posted them and he's into traveling so it's natural that he bumped them after I pointed him in the right direction.

Here's another one that I showed him but wasn't bumped. This is one of my favorite trips of all time:

THE ultimate gem to find would be one from maybe around 2006 or '07...it was a TRF contest in which TRFers post their takes on Rush songs. Videos of them playing guitar, acapella, solo, duet, etc. Some were excellent renditions ((for example, "Driven" by Geds I think his name was)) and then there were some comedic ones too ((spoken word versions of "Temples of Syrinx" by a hilarious TRFer whose name I've forgotten + "Rivendell" by massive TRFer Necromancer on his knees & dressed as a hobbit!!)). It was extra cool because the rest of the board could vote for the best one. Wish I could remember that thread title.

China

Why not...Not?

I was referencing the earlier 'controversy' which had this thread bumped.

I actually think that China's actually pretty interesting: factory dorms, one-child policy - these things are appealing to me in a strange way.

Oooh, thanks! Can't wait to check these out more thoroughly! I have always wanted to go to Angkor Wat. And a friend just went to Vietnam including Ha Long Bay; the photos of that were really beautiful. How awesome to have been to all those memorable places. :)

Angkor Wat might be the best thing in Asia that I've seen and that includes the Great Wall.

Ha Long Bay is pretty cool. I stayed a night on one of the islands and another night on the ship I took to get there. I took that trip which included Hanoi in 2008, the year after that Angkor Wat/Cambodia/Saigon trip. There's some absolutely brutal sites in Phnom Penh: The Killing Fields + S-21 (an old Cambodian high school that had been converted into a prison camp...but now known as the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum). That Slice of Grandma/Cambodia/'Nam trip thread has some raw photos taken in Phnom Penh but I purposely did NOT include some of the more depressing stuff. As if it weren't depressing enough.

Come to think of it, I liked Vietnam so much that I went 3 years in a row: spring '06, spring '07, then summer '08.

Are you still a ignorant racist ??

I don't see "remaining a sheltered moron" on you list, so chances are that you still are

What the f**k is wrong with you? Why do you make assumptions about people whom you know next to nothing about. I've met TOG in person, and he's far from ignorant, and I highly doubt he's racist. Please stop calling people out for stupid shit based on one or two post. It's nauseating. :| Edited by ILSnwdog
