drbirdsong
I had missed them the year before, but I had become such a big fan by then that my parents let me go even though it was a school night. It made a big impression on my sixteen year old brain. I still have the shirt, but the sleeves are gone and it doesn't quite fit anymore. Ahhhh... the memories. Edit: I just saw the date in my sig and I was 17 by then, but you get the idea. Edited May 6, 2011 by drbirdsong
druid13
I saw them at the then named Civic Arena in Pittsburgh...Butcher Axis at that show as well...the front row was singing 'Jingle Bells' during his last 2 songs when the cheap christmas lights on his amps lit up for his "finale"..... it was kind of awkward. Tony R
Quite, the British concerts on the All The World's A Stage, AFTK and Hemispheres tours were the pinnacle of Rush. Anyone who didnt see them then is just a tourist really. Sad.

Perchance to Dream
I missed that tour due to them skipping the city of Seattle. The nearest city they hit on that tour was Vancouver, B.C., but my parents wouldn't let me go. A girl that I knew showed up to school wearing the Signals tour shirt. I was extremely jealous! Wait......Your parents let you go?!

You don't have to have seen them in the 70s. What if I was an Inzidder? I remember their 70s albums being released - from what daddy tells me. drbirdsong
Loving this thread. Rory Gallagher was the opener and he played some very good guitar, but the crowd was merciless. He started to look a bit bored, but then so did we after about ten songs that all sounded the same. I was bruised the next day from so much pounding in that brutal general admission crowd. Got felt up from a chick behind me who only wanted to get in front of me, but I wasn't giving up that crushed chest against the stage spot. Oh man, the memories. Well shame on the Crowd then. No way do all Rory Gallagher songs sound the same!!!! My daddy saw him headline the Reading Festival in 1980,and he says that Rory was jaw-droppingly good. He was a better guitarist than Alex too.
