  1. Hard to say...funny story...years ago I was working a job where I had several employees most in the high-school to college age...I can remember discussions about music and how much they ripped Rush..."Rush? Who is that...blah blah" you see see they thought stuff like "Kris Kross" ( yes...THAT backward clothing wearing Kris Kross) was "all that"... Well a couple years later I ran into one of these people after they started going to college...suddenly they "discovered" Rush..."Roll the Bones is great" etc etc etc....the backward clothing club apparently was passe..... It was pretty unbelievable...even to me. http://www.vashtie.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/krisskros_431.jpg

  4. I can see that....Jesus....feel like I just ran into a belligerent drunk or something....

Congrats on your provocative post. No, you posted about a horror movie in a forum dedicated to the Rush album Clockwork Angels. Are you stupid? I post a post marked Off Topic...if it bothered you so much, don't read it.... better yet who is stupid that they read the words "Off Topic" and not understand what they mean? Bonus point in your provocation by using the word "retard" though. Have not heard that since 5th grade. So how do your carers refer to you now? Mentally-challenged? Entitled pipsqueak? Attention Whore, what? As noted earlier....no need for internet tough guy stuff... that is for daft slaps who get worked up unnecessarily over "off topic" posts and type furiously, crapping their pants, while drooling at the keyboard .... Unless this describes you ....you might want to change that password.

Funny thing is if this has been played here (not sure if it has) it would be on WDVE which is Butt Rock..er...I mean "Classic Rock"...even funnier...it would not fit in well with anything else they play on that station. I mean you can't have Headlong Flight bookended by Bob Seger "just take those old records off the shelf" on the one side and Boston's "More than a Feelin" on the other.... I'm really looking forward to The Ring 3, what about you AW? Tony R ....you might want to check and change your password, I believe a 12 year old is busy posting under your name and its starting to make you look a little foolish. I'm pretty certain you are already redefining that word. Now get out of my face. and I am "pretty certain" you started all of this.... actually make that "certain". No need to get all "internet tough guy" either.

  11. QUOTE (presto123 @ Apr 26 2012, 02:23 PM) It must be tough being one of the few on that little island that doesn't like the new stuff. Oh well there is always Justin Beiber's new album ( 3rd ?!?!) called "Believe" in June releasing for some of those folks. I heard he occasionaly pretends to play drums

  14. QUOTE (Tony R @ Apr 26 2012, 02:04 PM) Isn't there a forum for off-topic discussion? Oh yeah. It's called "anywhere but the main Rush forum". Come on Tony...no one is there. This is the hot spot and I wanted to share with fellow Rush fans.... Jeeezzz....
  15. QUOTE (danielmclark @ Apr 26 2012, 08:25 AM) QUOTE (druid13 @ Apr 26 2012, 06:50 AM) I think its been shown quite well no one sells 7 million albums anymore.... Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston could rise from the dead and record a duet and it would not sell 7 million copies becuase too many would be downloading it illegally. So you can't expect Rush to sell those types of numbers. it won't stop me from buying Clockwork Angels. Piracy has nothing to do with it. People stopped buying Michael Jackson albums a long, long time ago. You've been sucked in by RIAA propaganda. They aren't losing millions of sales due to piracy, that's a lie. Piracy has nothing to do with it...? LOL...right. Ever talk to some of the people who put out material like drum instructional DVDs...? Barely worth the time to do it because it gets pirated and sold....and they sold much smaller numbers to a far more boutique audience to begin with. I am in no way sticking up for any claims (was not even aware the RIAA made them) of someone else...its just simple observation...the "big selling" albums are not selling big anymore. And my scenerio while being a joke certainly would draw a TON of interest were it even possible to happen in the 1st place. Houston's death made her stuff go to number 1 again for awhile...I can only imagine what the Ghost of Whitney and Michael would cause the masses to do. Bands make their money from touring...not album sales anymore.

  17. You ever open a music video on You Tube and somehow say it opens up 5-10 times by mistake because of some quirk the computer is having...? Leaving you with 5-10 versions playing almost in sync that is the effect that VT gives me sometimes....you just sit there thinking "What in the Sam Hell is going on Here?!?!?!"
  18. I think Mr Henry gale is right...I remember hearing the intial recordings of the instruments were too hot right off the bat. Hence the difficulty in ever getting a true completel remaster...although the ones on OLV and ES were improved somewhat.
  19. Ahem...I can say the drum on HF are more difficult than Freewill...and its not close really. I am not a bass player but those parts sound more difficult as well.
  20. I agree... LaVilla....many random parts put together.... HF...there is definitely a form building throughout.... the difference? Most people of this board have heard La Villa a million times and HF about 10....hence familiarity. Frankly left turns and weird moents are what keeps music interesting to me...in ANY style. I can't stand music that I can map out the entire form within the first 10 seconds of a tune.
  21. QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Apr 25 2012, 09:01 AM) Ok, listening with the headphones cranked up.... damn this rocks. There is a noise that starts at 9 seconds, and gets covered up by music... but lasts until 30 seconds in (maybe longer as my hearing may not be as keen as others)... but what do you think it is? I'm guessing it's the sound of an old timey engine in an airship. I think that sound is the gumball machine....the one that gets used at the end of the story when the protaganist lures the Evil watchmaker into the restroom...tricking him and having him slip on giant gumballs, hit his head on the floor confusing him....the the protaganist leaps over the bathroom stall surprsing the watchmaker, breaks the gumball machine, then stabs the Evil watchmaker dead on the spot using broken glass.....the protaganist then Wishes him well and the evil watchmaker gets buried in the garden under a pile of mulch, vomit, gumballs and empty moosehead cans. the end.
  22. I don't really have anything against the Astra tune....other than it sounds pretty reminicent of much other stuff I have heard... that is why I can't really call that progressive. I think Mars Volta is very progressive...nothing sound like them and while they can be a headache inducer at times they really are doing their own thing and pushing the envelope too. having said all that what Astra is doing isn't bad...look at how many other genres you have bands playing essentially the same thing that has always been done in their genre. ( Blues, Metal, etc) I ffact I read something recently wiht Derick Roddy who now plays DW who feels NOTHING new is happeneing in metal and has not for a long time...blast beats really fast ...but then what? So if you as a bandmember like playing 70s prog stuff....go for it I say!
  23. hillarious...my computer at home does it too....
  24. Nah...no problem...just kind of a funny quirk I noticed with it.
