Why these two bands in the same thread? Are they touring together?

confused13.gif

Yeah, i was wondering the same thing. two COMPLETELY different styles.

Coincidentally, I just recently heard Queensryche for the first time on the radio.  I've been meaning to check them out for some time now.  Great stuff!

Get Operation Mindcrime.

Just get the first 5 albums and forget the rest...

Add me to that list too. bekloppt.gif

I was going to start a Frank Sinatra/Slipknot thread but I couldn't see enough of a connection in respect of the social commentary in their lyrics, otherwise it would have worked I think.

f**k it, I'll play along.

Queensryche - Queen of the Reich (the EP is my favorite thing they've done)

Mastodon...one of my favorite bands so this is much harder for me. Top 5:

1. The Last Baron

2. Capillarian Crest

3. Hearts Alive

4. Megalodon

5. The Czar

I've given Mastodon a few chances but nothing has ever clicked with me.

I love everything Queensryche did up through Promised Land. Hear In The Now Frontier has some solid tracks but it was nothing special overall. Everything they've done since Q2K has been nothing but a big steaming pile of dinosaur shit. There has never been a band i've been more disappointed in. Going from how great they were to just writting plain and bland songs with no quality or feeling to them at all. It's just so sad.

I think Operation Mindcrime is one of the best metal albums ever recorded. Rage For Order isn't too far behind either.

That would have fit perfectly along side my Buddy Holly/Slayer thread

I just bought 5th row center tix for $50/each to see Queensryche play a hall with a capacity of 1300 people. I remember seeing them headline and sell out The Meadowlands in NJ on the Empire tour. Granted, they haven't been the same band since DeGarmo left. Honestly, I haven't bought an album of theirs since Q2K. But, to see them in such a small place that's a 5-10 minute drive from my house is a no-brainer. I don't think I've seen them since the QR/ DT co-headlining tour.

Here's hoping the new album is decent.

Hopefully it won't suck. eyesre4.gif

Tate's description sure does suck.

"Modern life moves fast", commented frontman Geoff Tate about the album. "Plug into the rhythm of the now with our 12th studio album, Dedicated to Chaos. It's a clash and slash of musical experimentation anchored by the pulse of digital code." He did issue one suggestion to listeners as well, saying: "Enjoy - headphones are a must."

That makes me laugh every time I see the description. laugh.gif

I have faith that the new QR album will be good. I don't care how anyone describes albums. They're always different when they hit my ears, so it's up to me how it sounds. As long as it has variety, I'm good. I liked O:M2 and American Soldier. Obviously not as good as their older work, but steps in the right direction.

Eh, I'm excited. Love me some Ryche.

Sounds like they've run out of ideas long ago, Dedicated to Chaos is like Rage for Order in reverse. The artwork is shocking too, like a bad photoshop job done by an unskilled Tate obsessive...

Queensryche = all you need are the first five albums
