TheBlonde
I'll buy it. I will admit that I bought The Masked Rider simply because he is Neil Peart. But in all honesty, I quickly forgot who he was and just enjoyed the book purely as a travelogue. I like that he brings humanity into travel writing and I've enjoyed each of his other books for the same reason. Of course, I definitely don't mind the little "Rush" bits thrown in. And I certainly wouldn't mind a little more real details about the band's early days from first hand. (I have all the "story of" books...I don't hold a lot of faith in their truth.) And because of my psych degree, I enjoyed Ghost Rider because of the emotional aspect. (Man, is it really horrible to say that I enjoyed reading about someone else's grief?!? Oh well...I didn't get into the study of human nature because I'm warm & fuzzy.)

There are a few of those on his website... go to his books (not the Book Club) and click through them, looking for the "listen to excerpt" button. I love Neil's voice... LakesideMaiden
I'll be buying it immediately - don't have the funds to pre-order it right now, unfortunately. I have thoroughly enjoyed all his books to date, and have read and re-read all of them countless times. And I'll note, I also enjoy his descriptions of the landscape, flora and fauna around him. It really paints the picture of where he is so you can get immersed in the story. I can't wait!!
hannuFIN
I love all the scenary whatever and whenever Neil has us to offer. Have all his books, all read twice (except the bicycling torture . And I like the birds (as a hobby when by my like, the biggest Lake in Finland) too, they were here before us and bring the joy of life (also they don't have to go to work as we do..). Neil, what a decent citizen ! And sometimes have been thinking what that Prague concert had really been on R30 tour..compared to Germany.
CMWriter
I just checked on Amazon and they're selling the book (pre-order, anyways) for a little under $20 and it's eligible for their Super-Saver shipping. Just a thought for anyone who wants to save ten bucks! Oh, and here's where I found it.
Cygnals
I have to admit Neil does get long-winded at times, but it's all to set up the scenery and to vicariously have us be drawn into his own experience of pleasure. But that doesn't take away from me enjoying his writings. I'm just glad he shares it with us! And strangely too, how reclusive Neil can be at times, he's probably the one member of Rush who exposes his life more to us than the the other two. I'll be getting this, definitely. I think it's one of his best books, if not the most moving one (you can't take that from Ghost Rider). I don't mind Neil telling all about his North American travels, but much prefer it when he's in a different set up - Africa, Mexico, Europe etc. I loved the entry on his website about the South American tour!!!! I've said it before on this forum, but will say it again: Neil MUST do a trip in New Zealand and write about it, he'd love the place and be so inspired to write!!!
