Tough to choose between "Jaws," "Private Ryan" and "Schindler's List."

Here we are in the age of CGI, and "Jaws," despite it's fake mechanical shark, has aged remarkably well. That movie still delivers. The other two I mentioned are probably Spielberg's two best accomplishments, both technically and dramatically.

I agree with what you say about Jaws. I think it still works because you don't even see the shark until half way through the movie and even then it's minimal. A lot of the underwater scenes are real sharks, unless it's the head on shots. I think those are the reasons it stands up so well today. It's more of a psychological thriller, which when done well will stand the test of time.

This is probably my favorite movie of Spielberg's. It really had an impact on me, my Dad took me to see in theatres when I was 8. It scared the crap out of me. I started reading books about sharks and have never stopped. I am still scared when I swim in the ocean and it's been almost 35 years.

A.I. seems to be a love or dislike kind of thing. I don't know too many folks who have said, "Eh, it's ok."

I've not seen it myself, but that kind of polarity is compelling.

count me in as loving AI. I thought it was brilliant.

I was in Myrtle Beach about a year ago and in the ocean, and a shark brushed against my leg.

I thought about Jaws and I IMMEDIATELY got out of the ocean!

It was likely only a sand shark, but still.....it does ingrained in your head. sad.gif

I went with Schindler's List simply because it's a movie I'll never forget.

Raiders is really fun to watch over and over, but I would say that this movie was his best because of the ones I've seen, it's sort of out of his "norm".

Man, if I never see Schindler's List again, it will be too soon, but it was excellent.

Been there! Back in the mid Eighties I was swimming in the ocean off of Wilmington, NC and got bumped by a shark. I broke every speed record there is getting back to shore!

I picked Jaws, because it's been able to stand the test of time even with the invention of CGI and years later and it's still scary. It also had a major impact on me as a swimmer. After seeing it as a kid, I used to look in the pool for sharks before I dove in. laugh.gif Even going to the beach every year, there was a lil tingle of excitement/uncertainty running down my spine as to whether there was going to be a shark encounter I would witness. Also I think it started my fascination for sharks and scuba diving. It was just such an iconic movie for me growing up, had to vote for it.

A close second would have been Jurassic Park... just because of my lifetime passion for dinosaurs. smile.gif

I love "Used Cars!"

Hell yes!!!! trink39.gif

And fifty bucks never killed anybody.

"When my boss sees these numbers, he's going to have a stroke!" laugh.gif

Or,

"We had nuns protesting outside when I got here this morning. I had to have Jim turn the firehose on them."

"And I knocked those motherf**kers right on they asses, too!"

Great movie, even though the ending drags a little.

You want the solution to inflation? Hi, friends. Marshall Lucky here for New Deal Used Cars, where we're lowering inflation not only by fighting high prices, not only by murdering high prices, but by blowing the living shit out of high prices. Yessir. Here's an example. It's a 1972 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, for sixty-two ninety-nine. That price is too high.

I have to watch this again sometime soon. So many good lines.

I just got done watching Spielberg's first film "Duel" again last night and it got me thinking about how many great movies this guy has made. There have been a few clunkers (Hook) but for the most part, this is a tough choice. I have a feeling Raider's is gonna take but i went with Minority Report. I absolutely love that film.

I went with Schindler's List, gotta say I loved Hook.

Worst???------definitely Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. What a piece of poo that was.

A.I. is an interesting one. I really really liked it, but in a kind of sand and depressing way it had an affect on me.

Yes, me too. The first time I saw it I watched it in bits and pieces and thought wth is going on. Then when I got to watch it from beginning to end I thought it was a decent movie.
