deadwing2112
The Happening is out in theaters tommorow. Anyone gonna go and see it? Jack Aubrey
It's gonna suck. Unless you're a total Shyamalamadingdong apologist/sycophant.
theworkingman
I would if I knew what the hell it was about. The people are just dropping like flies in the trailer. But what's killing them? And the last good movie I saw by M. Night Shamylan was Signs. I'll skip this one, thanks. Edited June 12, 2008 by theworkingman
theredtamasrule
I'll prolly see it. I've noticed that the TV ads have resorted to mentioning that it's his first R rated movie...makes me skeptical that there isn't much substance if that's the selling point. -D-RocK-
Almost every trailer I see for a horror flick looks good, then when the movie comes out it sucks. Will this one be the same?

Skirmshander
M Night Shammalamadingdong has been coasting on Sxth Sense for too long..... As for Signs...don't ya think that if they were vulnerable to water that they WOULDNT PICK A PLACE THATS 70% WATER this one will last a couple of weeks at most
Stormtron
I have no interest in this one at all. I think it's kind of cheap how they're playing up "HIS FIRST R RATED FILM!" like that makes it good. They even make the R bright red at the end of the trailer.

Rushian King
But Signs was both creepy as hell and drily funny. Hitchcock would be proud. Can you tell I'm a sycophant? I will say that he is regressing, hopefully this'll be a turnaround for him.
Signals1982
I'll be seeing it tonight! I guess I'm in the minority. I'm a huge fan of Night's.
The Owl
I've given every one of M.Night's films a chance at least, and I always leave dissapointed, but I still see giving Happening a try. Listen I will admit that he's a fantastic director, and has an awesome style. But as a screenwriter.............................not so much
mazyyz
His last movies have really sucked...especially the Lady in the Water. Signs was cool but the ending was retarded.

Del_Duio
QUOTE (theworkingman @ Jun 13 2008, 10:59 AM) Signs was good. I can't believe I havn't seen this mentioned yet. His best movie, The Sixth Sense. Other than that is movies are crap. That is a good movie all of 2 times. The 1st time is all "WOW WTF THE ENDING!?!", and then the 2nd time you see it knowing how it ends and it all makes sense. After that, I can't watch it again. I really liked The Village but I didn't like how it was promoted endlessly as some sort of horror movie. Most of the people at the theater I went to were saying "This sucks!" and "This isn't scary, this is stupid!" I blame the TV ads on that, as the movie worked for what it actually was. Signs is a great movie, and the one I like the most from him. The whole scene where it's dark as hell outside and quiet and Mel Gibson runs outside and sees something that's even DARKER than the sky.. And the whole "I'm an alien trapped in the pantry!" scene was freaky too.
deadwing2112
I saw it today and I thought it was great. The whole "first R rated movie" was kinda dumb to promote since their was just a few death scenes that weren't all that bad. Much better then his last movie. Signs was entertaining up until the aliens (who managed to fly thru space and have advanced weapons) couldn't break down a wood door... So, what you're saying is that a superficial, unimportant detail ruined an otherwise good movie for you? Doesn't seem like a very reasonable reation to me, but hey, to each their own... Signs was not a sci-fi movie. It was not about aliens. It was about the human condition, and watched in that regard, it was nothing short of a masterpiece, and perhaps the finest film i've ever seen. Signs easily takes the cake as my favorite film. I can't wait for The Happening. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Jun 12 2008, 03:16 PM)It's gonna suck. Mara
I couldn't watch The Village for more than an hour. It just didn't hold my attention. The trailer for The Happening is very reminiscent of the most recent King novel I read - "Cell". In fact, I thought it had been made into a movie at first.
