Best bands with LOTSA dudes!

Which bands with at LEAST five full fledged members just rock? I don't mean five members as in "four dudes back up this total egomaniac on tour", I mean "five guys who all contribute at least a little something to the sound and direction of the group"

List the groups you love that are at least five strong and, if you can, name all the members!

As invisibleairwaves said, Arcade Fire.

I know this is kind of cheating, since they weren't originally a band with a ton of members, but the current version of Guns N' Roses looks like this:

Axl Rose - Vocals

Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal - Guitar

Robin Finck - Guitar

Richard Fortus - Guitar

Dizzy Reed - Keyboards

Chris Pittman - Keyboards

Tommy Stinson - Bass

Frank Ferrer - Drums

And the Roots.

Dave Matthews Band:

Dave Matthews - vocals, guitar
LeRoi Moore - saxophone
Stefan Lessard - bass
Boyd Tinsley - violin, strings
Carter Beauford - drums, percussion

Add Butch Taylor on keys and Rashawn Ross on trumpet. They're both in the permanent touring band now, and are both in studio for the new album.

I don't know why I posted this, as my last post was supposed to be my last on TRF, but... whatever laugh.gif

- King Crimson 1973

John Wetton - bass, voice, viola

Robert Fripp - guitar, mellotron

David Cross - violin, flute, mellotron

Bill Bruford - drums

Jamie Muir - percussion

- King Crimson 1994 - 95

Adrian Belew - guitar, voice

Robert Fripp - guitar, soundscapes

Trey Gunn - touch guitar

Tony Levin - basses, stick

Pat Mastelotto - acoustic & electronic drums and percussion

Bill Bruford - acoustic & electronic drums and percussion

I have King Crimson -CC- Live at the Wiltern, July 1, 1995 right in front of me, which is why the info is so exact.

- Yes

Members too numerous to mention. The only time they had less than five official members was 2000-2002 when they had guest Tom Brislin play keyboards in live performances as a guest musician. Also, there were two unofficial lineups of Yes that lacked Chris Squire on bass, and therefore didn't have the legal right to call themselves Yes. Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe had Tony Levin on bass and stick for their studio recording of the same name and during their tour, Tony Levin was replaced by Jeff Berlin.

For complete information on Yes' varying lineups, go here.

- Herbie Hancock's Head Hunters

Herbie Hancock - keyboards

Bill Summers - percussion

Paul Jackson - bass

Harvey Mason/Mike Clark - drums

Bennie Maupin - woodwinds, horns

Kansas:

Steve Walsh - vocals, keyboards, organ, piano
Kerry Livgren - guitar, keyboards, piano
Rich Williams - guitar
Dave Hope - bass
Robby Steinhardt - violin, strings
Phil Ehart - drums, percussion

Those were the two I was going to name. The presence of the violin gives these two bands a unique edge. And all the members of both bands are immensly talented. They're true ensemble groups.
