There are isolated bass tracks out there for all the MP songs, it shouldn't be hard to figure out which bass was used on what song. I'll have to check when I get home.

I was listening to the YYZ one the other day.  Sounds like the Rickey to me.

Instruments aren't really in my Rush wheelhouse but there's no mention of it in the Moving Pictures and Signals Tourbooks. If "Merely Players" is to be believed (hit or miss depending on the reference) Geddy used it for a few songs on Signals in the studio. As a sole reference, I'm not sure if I believe that.

Given that it did not seem to appear onstage until 1983, I wouldn't trust it.

The black Steinberger L-2 appears to have been onstage from 1983-1986. The last appearance of a Steinberger was the white one in 1990 and that was used on at least 2 occasions.

Don't know if this is going to work, but for anyone curious about how the SHM-CD looks for the Signals remaster from Japan, here are a few photos I took yesterday :)

Front Case with OBI

Back Case with OBI

Back Cover showing 2015 remastering credit

Full Booklet

Close-up Booklet showing 2015 remastering credit

CD Tray

Interesting that they've virtually done a straight copy of the '97 Remasters case, even down to the three coloured hands tray!!! :) :)

For anyone on the fence about getting this on import, it's MOST DEFINITELY worth it. Sean has dome another FANTASTIC job with the sound quality of this :) :) :)

There's nuances I'm hearing for the first time on all of the songs, the layers seem much more defined and jump out at you more, honourable mentions for the Electric Violin work on "Loosing It", and the helicopter and rocket sounds on "Countdown".

It definitely beats paying $230 to listen to it!!!

Roll on the Grace Under Pressure remaster for next year!

yes.  that is *exactly* what I was saying

Andy Curran has been quoted in interviews from several years ago saying he'd left the label. He's not in the Moving Pictures reissue liner notes. I don't have the Signals reissue so I can't say if he is listed.

Planned on getting the Japanese CD but now I'm not so sure. From what I've been reading the 2015 Magee master was messed with on this release and it runs slightly faster. I'm mystified why this was done if that's true. So I'm hesitant at this moment.

They should have copied another band who had an album out in 1982 and done a proper box set:

Little known fact:  The entire album was written whilst sitting on a park bench.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay on this, every time I think I'm set-up to receive notifications for the forum, it let's me down with not informing me of replies!!  Better late than never I suppose!

Signals is one of my favourite albums, so I'd know instinctively if the album was sped up slightly. To my ears, there's no speed change.

Even if there is a slight increase for arguments sake, what you're gaining from this new Magee remaster far outweighs any negatives or trepidations you might have in my honest opinion.

I A/B'd the Magee master to Bob Ludwig's '97 master, and it was night and day in my opinion. Everything just seems more "laid back" and flat in Bob Ludwig's master when you're comparing them. Magee's master is definitely worth your money  It is still available on CDJapan fortunately!

Thanks. Haven't ruled it out. Just waffling with no immediate urgency. Maybe I just need a $10 discount coupon from CD Japan or something as incentive.

I waited for one of their regular coupon discounts and bought it, along with some other things.

Hope I’m not breaking any rules… But the Signals Super Deluxe is currently $112 on Amazon… I initially passed on the set (for the same reasons as others have mentioned) but I couldn’t resist this deal. Go for it, if you’d like.

Let me know if it hits $50.

It's at $144 now. A pretty steep discount from the original price but still more than I want to pay. If it ever gets down to $100 I might do it.
