When taylor said this a collection of my thoughts at Midnight!!!! i was was like bitch this is a collection of your scrapes that weren't good enough. i feel better about it now. Especially since i played the complete version now on Spotify. it really reads as disjointed thoughts on a restless night. Taylor is someone who interestds me on a human level. This remains as rewarding on it's 30th play as it's first. I think this and the Stage are a great one-two punch. The stage was like them finding major footing again. This is like them saying ok let's take all we know and make somthing new out of it people are either gonna love this or hate it but that's not the point here. so let's have fun. It has a couple of very dated or dud songs, lyrically, and my gripe with it over all these years has been a lack of melodic playing from Alex- not that more purely riff-driven things can’t be great (because I think Clockwork Angels is brilliant)…but T4E has always sounded a bit too same-y from one group of songs to the next, to my ears.
