Good topic. I will say I know for sure number one will be Time Stand Still. One of my all-time Rush songs. Anyone who says that the band was unfeeling, robotic, had no soul etc. (I've heard that before and so have you) never listened to the words to this song.

Like several others here, will contemplate and revisit with a list soon........

In chronological order:

Subdivisions

Losing It

Distant Early Warning

Afterimage

Between the Wheels

Grand Designs

Marathon

Mission

Open Secrets

Lock and Key

Funny thing is, I rank Power Windows above HYF as far as album ranking, but I have three songs from HYF there as opposed to two from PoW.

Emotion Detector is an unnamed honorable mention for me. Solid tune with a great guitar solo.

Not in first to last order but these are my 10:

Analog Kid

Subdivisions

Afterimage

Kid Gloves

Distant Early Warning

The Big Money

Marathon

Middletown Dreams

Lock and Key

Turn the Page

Crafty!

That was just lucky!

And Mission, I've never been all that big on it. It's solid but there's a few other ones that would make this list ahead of it, probably about five or six songs.

Mission has some of Geddy's best vocal melody writing, and some of his best singing. And then there's the instrumental break in the middle.

The bass is heavy. Maybe it's too ballady? Or reminds me of that film starring Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons?
