Lurkst
According to the below article a theremin was used in the recording of BU2B. Can't say I've noticed before, or seen it credited? https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/articles/features/top_10_rock_and_metal_songs_with_theremin-108323
Babycat
I had a quick search for it, and it looks like he did indeed use a theremin in the recording. The irony is that on the 16th August 2016, someone in here asked the same question about it. I did try to put a link to the thread, but it took me straight back to the homepage. IbanezJem
I was reading the other day about the guy who created the Theremin - Leon Theremin - and he was also a Russian spy or similar, put a fancy bug in a seal that sat in the Russian ambassador`s office for many years, and those sneaky Soviets could hear all the US conversations.
HemiBeers
Jimmy Page called. He wants his theremin back and is pretty pissed.
RushFanForever
Nick Raskulinecz was interviewed by MusicRadar in 2012 about the Clockwork Angels album. He discusses track-by-track the album, and mentions the theremin being used on 'BU2B' on page 3 of 13 here. Maverick
Joe Bonamassa uses it to great effect on the song The Ballad of John Henry, especially the live versions.

New_World_Man
I know very well what a theramin is and what it sounds like but I can't say I've noticed it on CA. I'll have to listen more closely next time.
apetersvt
Never heard of a theramin before, but the echoplex (which Jimmy Page used) seems to do similar things. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echoplex

The theremin is an instrument in its own right... If you watch old sci-fi movies from the 50s a theremin is often used on the soundtrack.

Now I guess I gotta save up and get me one of those things.
Jack Aubrey
I was reading the other day about the guy who created the Theremin - Leon Theremin - and he was also a Russian spy or similar, put a fancy bug in a seal that sat in the Russian ambassador`s office for many years, and those sneaky Soviets could hear all the US conversations. I saw a History Channel doc about spycraft and that seal was featured prominently. It was a great example of thinking outside the box. I believe it's official code name was the "whatizit".
