I did consider that one.

IMO, mastepiece level: Animals, Rumours, Songs from the Wood, Going for the One, Point of Know Return, Elegant Gypsy, Aja, News of the World, Freefall, Heavy Weather, Peter Gabriel, and a host of other great, great albums. (I like that you include all those great fusion albums in the choices!)

 

and the answer is.... YES! Going for the One.

 

and my obligatory, if this were my poll, I would definitely have this album in the list for this year:

IMO, mastepiece level: Animals, Rumours, Songs from the Wood, Going for the One, Point of Know Return, Elegant Gypsy, Aja, News of the World, Freefall, Heavy Weather, Peter Gabriel, and a host of other great, great albums. (I like that you include all those great fusion albums in the choices!)

 

and the answer is.... YES! Going for the One.

If listed, Terrapin Station would have been my 2nd choice just behind Animals.

Hmm... I voted Rumours, but in my heart I wanted to vote for Skynyrd`s Street Survivors.

 

Street Survivors would give Lights Out a run for its money.

A relatively easy choice for me. Lights Out is UFO’s high water mark. Lots of albums I love here, but none as much as that one.

 

Obsession is their best for me.

 

They're very close. But Too Hot to Handle and Love to Love on one album is too much to overcome.

In retrospect I find the album versions quite tame compared to the versions on Strangers.

Strangers in the Night is one of the greatest live albums ever recorded.

Elegant Gypsy, Al Di, again. A number of my friends swear he sold his soul to be able to play as well as he does.

This was a tight battle between Jethro Tull, Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Kansas, Yes and Al Di Meola.

 

And the winner is Priest again!
