for once I'm glad Styx isnt on here because then my brain would be fighting over 4 albums. I'm already stuck between Never Surrender, Pyromania, and Drastic Measures.

What great music. Thanks, man, now I'm gonna be up all night re-listening to things I haven't thought about in years!

AC/DC, Plant, Yes, Thin Lizzy! ZZ Top, Night Ranger, on and on.

Metallica, then.

Yep. :smoke:

I think War stands a reasonable chance of being my number one. It's my favorite U2 album, and another one of those albums that really soundtracks a particular moment in time for me (actually a couple different ones).

Well as you will have guessed by now it isn't in the poll. :goodone:

True, just putting it out there. As for 1983 albums, War is probably the tops for me. Plenty of great choices in the poll though.

How many of these polls are you going to do? One for ever year of the 80s?

Your list is missing Holy Diver.

That's number 6. Very very close with Kill 'Em All, but I gave Metallica the edge for sheer energy.

I give Dio the edge because the overall song quality is better.

Part of what makes this hard is how you consider the question - big part for me is in the nostalgia of that year. Some of these albums I didn't get into in that year (SRV, Marillion later). Some of these albums were very good, but I think those bands peaked before (like Kansas) or after this year's entry (like Metallica).

For me, Maiden, Pyromania, and Yes 90125 were all huge, great albums. Some stood up over time better than others.

Ultimately, I went the pop route - Journey Frontiers.

Another great year. But Pyromania is another of my top 5 studio albums ever. Honorable mention to Eliminator. Then 90125. After Pyromania, there's about 5 albums that are right on top of each other (Piece of Mind, Holy Diver and Midnight Madness are in the mix too).
