Glenn Danzig

Danzig is on the list

Morrisey is not

Hahaha! My ADD brain just skimmed the lists. My bad

I started thinking about this last week at work, and would jot down names on scrap paper .. There were post-its and note book papers with all these names scattered around the shop, and my sis was like "what are all these names ?? .. old customers ??"

That's funny buddy!

I did the scratch paper thing for my blues rock trio thread.

I get it.

What was hard was leaving off guys that I like in favor of others that I don't - but that have made an undeniable impact

Here are some of the guys I agonized over .. not that I am a fan of all of them, but I think they have all done enough to deserve a mention

- Tony Harnell

- Mike Tramp

- Bret Michaels

- Roger McGuinn

- Stephen Pearcy

- Dave Mustaine

- Paul Simon

- Burke Shelley

- Joe Elliot

- Paul Weller

- Ray Lamontagne

- Denis "Snake" Belanger

- Minoru Niihara

- Marilyn Manson

- Jeff Scott Soto

- Steve Earle

- Kamijo

- Boz Scaggs

- Bob Geldolf

there's more and more and more

I’m glad you left some of those off!

The existing list is totally fine. (Not that I like all of them though).

none of those would have make my list of choices...and I can't think of anyone else.

Oh wait a second, the lead singer for The Dixie Dregs was one of my favorites...you know 'what's his name...'

Geddy Lee over Jim Morrision? Oh jebsus effin krist!

Yeah, it's one thing to hate the Doors, but Jim's iconic work as a rock frontman/vocalist is undeniable.

Lol, now I know I voted for him too but...

Only on the Rush forum is the lead a four way tie between Plant, Mercury, Gillan, and GEDDY

I love him, but he's pretty obviously not as universally renown as the other three here.

As a vocalist Geddy is polarizing as f**k. The main reason why many rock fans dislike Rush are his vocals, esp. during the 70's.

I think he is a very good vocalist in terms of vocal abilities, but I totally get why everyone could not get into his singing style.

It's weird to feel like simultaneously applauded such a rich and varied list of vocalists, while also wondering how you left off so many.

You'd be typing all day if you were to list everyone anyone might agree to.

I chose through a combination of truly superb vocalists, and vocalists that just somehow have an electric quality that transcends technical skill.

Me too...and others, I assume. That would explain Danzig, for example. I vote for Brad Delp for his voice alone, but he wasn't much of a front man.

Also this thread has made me realize how vastly I prefer McCartney as a singer to Lennon. Their voices are so similar but at the end of the day...Paul just seems a bit more capable.

I'm a sucker for Macca.

Could anyone ekse get away with McCartney's Wings and solo material? Yet his voice and charm make most of it work, even the cheesiest stuff. Elton is like that.

So when's the cut off for the first round (so I can login with my 20 fake profiles and stack the voting)?

The cut off is when Lucas’ guys have safely secured enough votes for the semis. :P

We'll all be dead and reincarnated 10x over by the time Luke Spiller, Johnny Rainbow or Lux Interior get even two votes

NO DAVE MENIKETTI?????????? WTF???????

Yeah, but you can vote for Sammy Hagar. Summertime Girls could have been on VOA. But not Standing Hampton, because that song sucks and that album was good.

UGH!!

You are killing my rock and roll soul tonight.

I KNOW!

"Summertime Girls" is one of the worst songs ever written! I FUCKKING HATE IT!

Believe me! Dave, Phil RIP, Joey RIP and Leonard RIP all knew this from my big mouth back in the Y&T FORUM DAZE!

You think I stir the pot on this fuckking forum?

Man,

I'm like Snow White on this Red Lenses Forum.

For me it was always RUSH and Y&T back in the day. My top two bands of all time!

But yes!

Y&T totally sold out. Huge mistake.

"Standing Hampton" Rules.

True Fact:

Did you know that Phil, Leonard and Joey tried to hire Sammy Hagar to replace Dave Meniketti on vocals?

Dave would still be the lead guitarist.

But Geffen wouldn't let Sammy out of his contract.

Kind of funny how Sammy replaced Diamond Dave. You know how I feel about that shit move.

More fun facts for you.

Did you know that Ozzy and Sharon jumped on a plane after Randy died and flew out to f***ing Oakland California to meet up with Dave Meniketti.

They both wanted Meniketti to join Ozzy.

Ozzy actually got on his hands and knees and begged Dave to join the band.

Dave politely declined and told Oz and Sharon that his band Y&T was on the rise.

Did you also know that Leonard Haze, the drummer of Yesterday And Today actually started the band. Leonard hired Dave Meniketti to be in HIS BAND.

Yet now Dave owns the band.

Life isn't fair man.

Fuckk it.

Rock and Roll is dying.

"Their Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City"

Signed

WHITESNAKE

PS. Did you know that when Y&T were waiting in the lobby at Geffen Records to ink their two album deal guess what band was also sitting in the lobby next to Dave and the boys?

YUP!

GUNS N FUKKING ROSES!

I could go on for hours.

Perhaps I should write a book instead.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter.

We will all die one day.

So until then, I hope anyone who reads my shit will take a deep breath, put on some ROCK AND ROLL, relax and take care of themselves.

Don't hate me.

Love me,

Or go away.

"FREEWILL!"

I see that Ronnie Van Zant is the most underrated on third list. The fact that he has only one vote(mine) is beyond me.

Vocal-wise he absolutely blows away at least half of people on third list.

And I say that, although Lynyrd Skynyrd is not among my favorite bands.
