This is much easier for me than it will be for many, as I am still a new and highly uneducated fan of metal. In very rough order: 1. Holy Wars... The Punishment Due - Megadeth2. The Hellion / Electric Eye - Judas Priest3. ...And Justice For All - Metallica4. Beyond The Realms Of Death - Judas Priest5. 2 Minutes To Midnight - Iron Maiden6. A National Acrobat - Black Sabbath7. Indians - Anthrax8. Sweating Bullets - Megadeth9. I Am The Law - Anthrax10. The Number Of The Beast - Iron Maiden11. Check the threads on emo and post hardcore. Two very well established and respected subgenres. The thing is there are so many subgenres and a lot of bands who dab in the genre but don't go all in that the line gets blurred to what should be labeled it and what shouldn't. It's not metal by today's standards since the genre has evolved to include so many styles. But back when it was recorded the song was certainly metal. Would never have guessed that one was your favorite. Well its a current favourite. Overall not satisfied with my list but its just ten i am obsessed with at the moment. Khoma aren't really metal at all but I always play them alongside metal...and Pray Nightfall is a gorgeous song but...more synth rock than metal. I think The Poet And The Pendulum would have been a better choice! Thing is when it comes to metal, proper...my list is honestly just gonna be ten Paradise Lost songs. They are my favourite metal band. A label I find hard to apply to Lacuna Coil or Nightwish (both have such broad sounds.
