As much as I love the band Queen, Jazz was the first album in my opinion that was not a masterpiece album. And Hemispheres is a true masterpiece album, and I have listened to that album so much. So Rush - Hemispheres gets my vote!

Some fine albums there but can't vote against hemispheres.

I'm going with Hemispheres (A+) but the VH debut (A+), Infinity (A), and Heavy Horses (A-) are my other top albums that year. Plenty of other stuff too of course. What a year.

Well since The Cars debut is not on here for some reason, I will go with Hemispheres

It's tough to pass on Van Halen, here, but they're relegated to the obviously second best album by one of Rush's top 3.
