You know how you might have an Artist who you KNOW is amazing.....but for some reason you hardly bother with? that was petty for me.

thanks to this thread i thank that ends.

Mick

Adam got me into him properly last year. When I have time and patience I will collect his best works.

the first 5 records alone are a great place to start.

The first two records have several great songs that aren't played very often. But I still fight for the Live Anthology to be a great introduction. It has all their big hits (including hits from Petty's solo career) and some of their best deep cuts, unreleased songs, and covers

The last DJ and Hypnotic Eye also prove he can still go.

whereas Bruce has really stumbled in recent years.......and again. i DO like Bruce's classic years

Mick

Agreed. It's testament to how much I love his work and himself that I am a fan. Besides, the millennium brought us The Rising and Magic. Everything else is an afterthought.

Full speed ahead!

I own all his albums and there's not a bad one but THIS is my most played one. Love how big and in your face the drums sound. The songs and playing are just classic Tom Petty.

Yep. I am torn between Free Fallin' and Runnin' Down a Dream for my favorite on that album.

I love seeing both these artists get love here.

Another I sort of compare to both that I adore is Garth Brooks.

Oh my God, Tom Petty by a mile.

I don't see how Springsteen's the boss of jack shit. I think he's easily one of the most over-rated musicians in the history of anything.

Petty.

I have never liked Springsteen all to much. I find his voice raspy and annoying.

"RASPY AND ANNOYING? HIS VOICE IS LIKE AN ANGEL, I SAYS!"

((Edited to add: I'm not laughing AT you. I'm laughing at how you'd sound if you were in the room using a mic))

nah that would go to U2.

Bruce is up there though. it's his stupid image, lol overshadowed the music. which INO is still quite good.

Yeah, the video for Don't Come Around Here was an odd one and it was played all the time. Haven't seen that one in forever. I'll have to youtube it and see what it looks like now.
