Deepest rush lyrics

I don't consider any Rush lyrics deep, but a few of them speak to me more than others.

"I'm not the only soul accused of hit and run. Tire tracks all across your back - I can, I can see you had your fun." Can't recall the song...

Yes and I love the way he delivers that little chuckle..

Jim Morrison simply said

OH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....I'M A BACK DOOR MAN .................

Men don't know.....what the little girl...understand....

Now how can Neil compete with the 1st rock Poet????.............WAIT..I'm being told this was written by Willie Dixon.....FAIL

Just another 60's rip off of old Blues songs....Yes I'm talking about u Led Zep..........

Now just for Lorraine.... :chickendance: :rose:  :7up: :pussy:

I lie awake with my secrets

Spinning round my head

Something that somehow escaped me

Something you shouldn't have said

All this time we're shuffling and laying out all our cards

While a billion other dealers are slipping past our guards

All this time we're hoping and praying we all might learn

While a billion other teachers are teaching them how to burn

Too many hands on my time

Too many feelings

Too many things on my mind

When I leave I don't know

What I'm hoping to find

When I leave I don't know

What I'm leaving behind...

I guess "The Pass" and "Losing It" would be considered among the deepest. Not necessarily my absolute faves but I would regard them highly.

The Presto and Roll the Bones albums contain many of my favorite NP lyrics

Out of all of the songs that Rush has recorded, this is the only song that leaves me feeling hollow. I love the song, but I don't listen to it often on account of my reaction to it.

Strange. I think it's a very positive message.

I wouldn't say "deep" per say, but these songs I'm about to speak about are relatable. #1. Losing It I relate a lot with the most. It's lyrics of having your dreams never realized and having better days disappear seem to relate to me. #2 - "Halo Effect" gets a lot of hate on here, but I also call that a relatable as well as deep song to me about illusions and unrealistic expectations, especially with falling in love with someone who may not care about you back. #3 - Circumstances. Life can throw curveballs at you, and as I've found my world growing and new opportunities rising in front of me, I've got to take a chance or else I won't know success or failure. #4- BU2B. I can't blindly follow things anymore. I've got to make up my own mind. #5- Alien Shore. Learning what romance and love is really about. Moving out of your comfort zone, learning from your partner, etc. Edited by Carvan Alex

Entres Nous - simple yet elegant, succinct yet very moving

The Camera Eye

Something For Nothing

Open Secrets - Ouch!

Kid Gloves

Agreed highly on all counts!

The Snakes & Arrows album has some of Neil's most consistent and poignant lyrics.

The Professor is drawing on his usual personal experiences and addressing common themes of religion and terrorism.

How many rock bands are skilled enough to write about this subject matter without sounding preachy or patronising ?

I applaud Neil for his quiet, rational, SANE views of the world post 9/11.

Like a solitary pine, on a bare wind blasted shore....

Sheer poetry.

This is a bit nit picky, but from T4E thru to S&A, I was noticing Neil using the words "Like the..." a bit too often. Started to make me wince

Virtuality

Like a shipwrecked mariner adrift on an unknown sea

Ceiling Unlimited

Like malice through the looking glass

Ghost Rider

Like a ghost rider

The Stars Look Down

Like the fly on the wheel, who says

"What a lot of dust we're raising"

Freeze

Like a cornered beast

Or a conquering hero

THE WAY THE WIND BLOWS

Like the solitary pine

On a bare wind-blasted shore

We can only grow the way the wind blows

Faithless

Like a stone in the river

Against the floods of spring

I will quietly resist

Like the willows in the wind

Or the cliffs along the ocean

I will quietly resist

Hmm, interesting! Sorry that it's starting to bug you.

He's certainly keen on analogies and rampant didacticism. :blah:

He did the same thing in his younger years with 'eth':

The sign of Eth is rising in the air.

Fountain of Lamneth

Beneth, Between, Behind.

In eth Mood.

Granted, one or more of those could be typos. Or maybe a lisp was involved.

Or perhaps Neil just likes a lot of things?

Spinning whirling

Still descending

Like a spiral sea unending

Sound and fury

Drown my heart

Every nerve is torn apart

Nothing much deeper than a black hole.

didacticism. :blah:

Didacticism is the new pedantry.

Sez you!

:P

It was meant as a compliment!

No you didn't. What you said was that didacticism has usurped pedantry in modern colloquy. Any idiot can see that!

Off the top of my head:

The Pass

Emotional detector

Middletown dreams

Second nature

Red tide

Freewill

Available light

Come to think of it, I find the majority of Rush songs to have considerably 'deep' lyrics.
