x1yyz
I've heard several albums that are intense/sad/disturbing, but then they have a closing song that makes you feel okay. The only album like this that I can think of at the moment is Nevermore's Dreaming Neon Black with the closer "Forever": Oh, I just remembered a really good example of this type of closer - Mariliion's "White Feather" from Misplaced Childhood. A bright, hopeful ending to an excellent, but somewhat distressing, album.

Rutlefan
The Clash's Train in Vain. So glad the money-hungry record execs forced them to include a pop song. Or so the story went. Seems maybe it wasn't the case -- The Clash weren't forced to include it -- but I like the urban myth version. Radiohead's Street Spirit (Fade Out) and The Tourist. At 5:15 is the coolest "ding" in the history of music; well, second coolest, after the ding halfway through the Prelude of Hemispheres. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHCDU3czj1A Edited October 5, 2016 by Rutlefan
