  5. Geddy did write 1,200 pages so we didn't get everything in the book because editors pared it down. Perhaps he will share more of it at a later time. I am happy he has done what he has.

  6. My favourite Dokken album is Under Lock and Key. I saw them on that tour too in 1986 when they supported Accept, this was at Manchester Apollo.

  7. The following is written by The Cat 3 and blueschica, two people who knew Lorraine well, both on and off the board. ----------------------------------- Dear TRF brothers and sisters, We are so very sorry to share the sad news of Lorraine's passing. According to her church's weekly bulletin she passed away during the week of March 6-12. She fought a brave fight and kept her faith intact throughout the journey. We had many conversations after her diagnosis and her faith brought her so much comfort, courage and peace. Another thing that brought her comfort was the knowledge that she was not alone in her struggle but had so many wonderful people like each of you supporting her. She read each and every post that you've made in "her thread" (as she called it) and it really brought her joy just knowing that she was loved and cared for, that people were praying for her, sending good thoughts, well wishes along with the oh so many hugs. Thank each and every one of you for taking the time to post, pray, send good vibes and thoughts since learning of her illness. She truly viewed you as family members, of sort. Sometimes a bit of a dysfunctional family at times, but a family, nonetheless. The Rush Forum was such an important part of her life, as it is in many of our lives as well. Joining out of interest in a rock trio and finding the unexpected anecdote to loneliness and the gift of lasting friendships. If you take a look at Lorraine's profile, you will read her answer under the heading of "Best Rush Experience" that she answered, "Being a member of TRF. Now everyone say "Awwww!!!" She was not trying to be clever with that answer, as she truly meant those words. C.S. Lewis said, "Friendship ... is born at the moment when one man says to another "What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .". Though we may be saddened by the loss of our friend, we can be grateful for the friendship we found in her and, indeed, with one another. I'm certain that Lorraine would wish us to conclude by saying may God bless you and keep you until we meet again. Stephen (The Cat 3) ----------------------------------- Remembering Lorraine has brought back so many memories. She was one of the first people to welcome me to TRF and I feel very lucky to have shared a friendship with her. She had such a great sense of humor! Whether it was planning the TRF prom, making Hilda jokes, or figuring out who was a "True Rush Fan", Lorraine was always brightening the day. She could make us laugh so hard- what a wonderful gift! Lorraine also had a sense for when people were feeling down or worried and supported so many of us with her conversations and experience. Others will know as much or more about that as I do, because it was one on one, but she was there if she thought you needed her. She had a way of transcending the computer screen and letting you know the real person, which was amazing. Lorraine had such an ear for music, going way back to listening to New York stations while she was growing up. I loved the "Gush About Rush" thread that she started because she was so good at putting into words what was great about what we were hearing. She loved "The Trees." The Outlaws recording of "Green Grass and High Tides". The 60s group Left Banke singing "Pretty Ballerina." And Frank Sinatra singing the classics. Whenever I hear these songs, or see daises, Lorraine will be there somehow, and always be remembered. Becky (blueschica)

  13. Exactly. And that shouldn’t be surprising, I’ve heard countless artists not even remember which songs on are which albums and such. Most of them haven’t heard their own songs since they recorded them unless they’re live staples. Casual fans seem to have this expectation that you could randomly bump into Geddy and Alex on the street and hand them instruments and say “Play Different Strings for me” and they could do it on the spot. Most artists live in the moment, the fans know more about what they played on various tours and such than they do. I’ll bet Geddy hasn’t listened to ESL since it was mastered and I seriously doubt he knows what songs are on it. And again, this isn’t a criticism, that’s the case with almost all bands.

  14. I think it can probably be explained by the fact that the guys in the band have a very different relationship to their music than fans do. Once the excitement of the early years wore off (which I imagine was more or less gone by the time they got to recording AFTK or Hemispheres) it was probably just a job to them. A fun job and a satisfying one, but just a job. Once a tour was over, it wasn't worth thinking about. I doubt Ged has spent any time at all thinking about what songs they played on old tours, except when planning a new tour, or when he sat down to write his book.

  15. Avs give me a scare tonight before MacKinnon goes on a tear and scores 4 goals! 6-4 over Senators. First time in Avs history, can't believe Sakic didn't have 4 goals in a game . He also scored his 300th goal and 5th hat trick. He has tied Nylander for longest current point streak. Enjoying it but wish they didn't have a let down in the 2nd period again.

  17. There first four albums are all close to perfection for me! Gosh I love classic Dokken! They put me in such a great mood. Alone Again is my favourite metal ballad/power ballad of the eighties.

  18. You lucky dog you. Never got to see either Dokken or Accept (or Dio for that matter). All 3, esp. Dokken, were on my list of bands I really wanted to see back in the day. I liked Under Lock and Key more than Breaking The Chains and perhaps slightly more than Back for the Attack. But (obviously) not as much as Tooth and Nail. Still, a good 4 album run before they blew apart.

  19. Toronto, has a two game road trip, and their three remaining games to end the year are at home, in Toronto, and between them is a road game. Tonight, they are in Buffalo, to play against Buffalo, which Toronto, lost 9-3, and on Sat., in Columbus, to play against Columbus, which Toronto, won 4-1. Next Wed., they are in Toronto, to play against Ottawa, which Toronto, lost 4-2, next Fri., they are in Columbus, to play against Columbus, which Toronto, lost 6-5 in overtime, and next Sat., they are in Toronto, to play against Carolina, which Toronto, lost 3-2. At home, they are 9-7-2. On the road, they are 8-3-5. Auston Matthews, scored four goals to give him twenty-nine in thirty-four games.

  25. First out of the moving box today: Dio - Victory Never heard of this album before? Not a shock. Its a boot of a show he (according to the notes on the album) played at the Hammersmith Odeon on October 6th, 1984. Last In Line era Did. Very good stuff. Next out of the box: Heavy Metal Battle What the heck is this you ask? Well, side 1 is a boot of a Dokken show. According to the notes on the album, the show was recorded live in Hollywood in 1984. Its not more specific. Wish it was but hey, Tooth & Nail era Dokken is the best Dokken (IMO). Very good stuff. Side 2 is a boot of a Dio show recorded live in New Orleans in 1985 (according to the notes on the album). Wish it was more specific but its not. Still Vivian was still with him - that much is clear. More very good music. Last out of the box for the day: Dio - Intermission Live Dio recorded in San Diago. Not exactly certain when but clearly on the Sacred Heart tour. My guess would be after Vivian was kicked out of Dio's group. Plus one new album track. Good but the boots were much better.

  29. Interesting idea, but while the financial structure of baseball lends itself to large, ongoing and reasonably geographically ingrained advantages for certain teams, the same is not true for football, so these things should work themselves out over time, rather than recurring to the advantage of the same teams. I would have less trouble with it in football than baseball for that reason. If it does work that way though it should be in conjunction with evening out the schedules in any given year, which would reduce the games between traditional rivals, which I don't like, so after all is said and done, I'm ok with the only occasional "unfair" anomalies that result at present. I would support HFA for the team with the better record.
