  1. It took me forever to learn that it's better to be alone than to hang out with false friends. Many years were ruined and wasted because I kept hanging out with creeps, assholes, and narcissistic dooshbags, who had no integrity or honor. Better to have a handful of real friends - or even no friends - than a lot of false ones.

  4. It took me nearly 25 years to learn that the problems in my life weren't anybody else's fault. I always had someone else to blame. But it turned out that all of my anger was because of me. But then I fixed that. :)

  5. What in the hell is the deal with all of the safety seals on every damn thing? Even toothpaste; I mean, wtf? If someone wants to contaminate toothpaste, they're going to have to get through the box and at that point the tube is not exactly impregnable. That stupid little foil seal they put over the top isn't going to stop anyone from doing anything nefarious. All it does is piss off people like me when it breaks as I am trying to remove it, and it ALWAYS breaks. Same with the one on the stupid salad dressing. There's that little pull tab thingy that's supposed to pull the safety seal right off. It does not. Without fail it separates neatly from the rest of the unit, necessitating a knife or scissors to finish the job.

  10. Mine is something that I have to keep relearning over and over again. Buying cheap is expensive. If you spend the money on a quality product the first time, it will last. If you buy cheap, you're going to be spending money again, and soon. This lesson has cost me a lot of money. Please share your hard earned lessons.

  13. HA- word for word, that is what hubby told me when it came to, uh, "underthings". Instead of taking me to the store yet AGAIN to replace my broken bra, he shoved his debit card into my hand, turned on the laptop and told me to "go nuts on QUALITY bras." Boy did I =D It took me several years to learn that, no matter who it is or what their role in your life is, it is MORE than OK to dump toxic people from your life. And you should NEVER feel sorry for doing so.

  17. I've been a worrier all my life. Over the past few years, I've learned that worrying about something beyond my control is a waste of time and negatively impacts my life. I don't worry the way I used to, although I have to work at it because it creeps back into my head now and then.

  18. It's all relative. No matter where people live there's always something with the weather that they don't like. That being said, I'd like to not like the weather on a tropical island somewhere right about now. No where is that more true that in the south. It can be 70 degrees with no clouds and no wind and people will be complaining.

  21. I fell hard for this girl in college many years ago. She was in my study-abroad group that went to France for a semester. We keep in touch on Facebook on occasion, but she lives far enough away that I don't have to worry about running into her again. She has a good marriage, two awesome little boys, and much happiness. So I've recently posted photos of that semester in France on my Facebook page, and she commented on one particular photo (Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris). I had given her a print of that photo, and now she tells me that she still has it.....ON HER NIGHTSTAND. :o Trying not to conclude anything......trying not to conclude anything..... :laughing guy: :laughing guy:

  25. I much prefer older movies. the pacing is better, the editing is better (use of longer shots), the dialogue less reliant on profanity or sarcasm. The intent seems to be more about telling a story, as opposed to being edgy by reflecting the most base of human interactions. The modern approach to films strikes me as incredibly lazy.

  26. Two films today, the first being Pocahontas, which will forever rank as one of my all time favourite movies. Glorious art design, memorable (and mature) characters, complex (especially for a Disney film) politics, moving romance, well choreographed fight scenes, soaring, majestic score and an absolutely stonking set of songs (all of them are gems!). I watched the extended cut with the bonus song If I Never Knew You, and I wouldn't have the film in any other way! Absolute beast of a movie, and for me is one of the major highlights of the Disney revival. Despite being ranked as the first Disney disappointment of the nineties, I beg to differ. After another underrated classic (The Hunchback Of Notre Dame) came the shameful and ugly Hercules. Pocahontas deserves to be recognised as one of the finest family films of all time... And the second: Casablanca. I began sceptical, but by the end I was completely enthralled and even though I felt very tired and couldn't keep my eyes open, I just had to watch it to the end! I have to say, I think modern directors could do with looking back to these classics and examine what makes them so enduring. I am sick of all these perfectly produced, big budget and shallow dramas and comedies that promise so much, and yet offer so very little. Especially when a film as ropey and mundanely produced as Casablanca thrives, not through artifice (this is a humble looking movie), but through itsfascinating dialogue and timeless characters. And i would also add that the cast was close to perfection as well. This film made no effort to be entertaining, and yet it ended up being exactly that! I am looking forward to other old time classics. I have The Philadelphia Story on order...looking forward to that!

  30. On October 14, 2012, Felix Baumgartner ascended more than 24 miles above Earth's surface to the edge of space in a stratospheric balloon. Millions across the globe watched as he opened the door of the capsule, stepped off the platform, and broke the speed of sound while free falling safely back to Earth. Felix set three world records that day—and inspired us all to reach beyond the limits of our own realities, and reimagine our potential to achieve the incredible. Note the "speedometer" on the bottom of the screen as he's falling. High up, in the thin atmosphere, he zooms to over 800 mph, but then as the atmosphere thickens, the air resistance slows him down considerably...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYw4meRWGd4 :haz: :haz: :haz:

  34. Can I be honest? I think Snakes and Arrows was Neil Peart just laying all the cards down on the table. I believe it is about as honest as it can get, lyrically. Take it or leave it. He wrote it like there was not going to be another album. Clockwork Angels is written as a veiled allegory, perhaps, for his new daughter to be able to enjoy now, but not fully understand until later. But, it wasn't "in your face" like Snakes & Arrows. I think Snakes & Arrows was militant atheism, and I love it.

  35. I just did that with a band called Thunder... I'd downloaded something like 87 songs onto my MP3 player from 8 of their CD's and went through them all in 3 nights after coming home from work. Kind of funny going through an artist collection: it goes alphabetically by track #: All the track 1's, then all the 2's, etc, so all the albums get mixed together. Going though all the Rush would take even longer: 132 tracks, well 126 songs really because the DS version of 2112 was counted as 7 tracks. Could be a fun way to spend a weekend :D-13: Wait a sec, I just remembered that p/g audio CD in the ReplayX3 box. Have to download that live version of The Weapon :7up:

  42. Your Not wrong GM . :hi: The Music paper it`s from the N.M.E. was a bit of a leading Punk and new wave paper and not really into real music like Rush and other Dinosaur bands at that time . It`s seems to be trying to clever about how clever Rush songs are . Is Concieted the word I think they were looking for about Rush . Where are those Punk bands today . Ans . Nowhere . My guess is that the author of the review loved the show but didn't want to admit it because it wasn't "cool". No. These are the same assholes who took a conversation with Neil after an interview and used it to call the band fascists. http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/images/scans/new-musical-express-03.04.1978.pdf They're just stupid and mean, and got off on it.

  44. *sigh* Winters in Seattle are disappointing. I grew up with snow. There needs to be snow in December. It actually did snow here last Friday. We got maybe an inch (I'm being generous) and the city STOPPED. No school. Busses were stuck. It's still so funny to me how this area deals with snowfall. Nobody drove anywhere for fear of careening off the road with no one to rescue them since not even a two ton bus can make it though an inch of snow.
