RUSH - Glasgow Apollo - 1980

A couple of photos that I found in the loft the other week!

Taken on the Permanent Waves tour on the 10th June 1980.

I should point out that these are shots that I discarded at the time as not being good enough and that the "proper" photos are still kicking about somewhere up in the loft.

On a further "technical" note, these were taken in the days when you had to smuggle cameras into gigs and I hid the camera inside one cowboy boot and the lens inside the other - all concealed by the flared jeans. Halcyon days!

Don't we all? What a fantastic set-list!

If only Rush would play more of the classics so sadly missed on the S&A tour?

At the very least Xanadu and 2112?

Not only great photos...but wasn't that the Glasgow choir gig on CTTH from ESL?

Yes, it certainly was!

If you listen very carefully at approximately 2/3rds across the right hand side of the stereo image you'll hear me doing my note perfect Geddy impersonation! laugh.gif

Though by some of the anti-trib comments on the various Rush forums you wouldn't have thought it Ian?

You're not kidding there Billy!

Not sure why Rush tribs (and this seems to be a worldwide phenomena) have such a hard time getting Rush fans to support them when other tributes... AC/DC, Floyd, Sabbath, Iron Maiden etc etc all seem to have their respective fellow fans pouring out the woodwork in their masses.

More puzzling given that guys in a Rush tribute by default really do have to put an immense amount of effort into it all and also that Rush fans are probably the most dedicated fans in rock!

Quite a paradox in fairness.... Rush tribs should be amongst the best supported bands out there in fairness! wacko.gif wtf.gif
