Sleeping Remedies

Hi!

As many are aware, I have issues and many of them cause me to sleep roughly...well...never.

Anyone know of any good methods, preferably herbal, that can help my mind and body relax?

Maybe an ambient noise machine? Waves, rustling wind, etc. I borrowed one years ago, and found that it helped me get to sleep a little faster.

I don't know if they sell it in the UK but I get something called Midnite PM at my local supermarket.

It uses natural ingredients to help activate your sleep cycle. Now I don't have insomnia like you, but I do take it for times I can't get to sleep. It always works and i'm usually able to get at least four or five hours sleep out of one pill. The pills are chewable as well. The "PM" version of it has some minor pain reliever in it (natural ingredients) and is really only enough to help you relax and that's it. The other version doesn't have the pain reliever.

Quite a few people use melatonin to help them sleep. It's all natural and worth a try if you've never used it.

Thanks as well! I will look into this as well!

As Eagle mentioned, melatonin can be very helpful- it was for me. I used to take 3 mg and then my Dr. told me that people with trouble sleeping can take up to 9 mg, so I do. You have to remember to take it about 45-60 minutes before you want to fall asleep; it takes a little while to work. It has been very helpful!

The only problem is I forget once in a while, then I am staring at the ceiling going, "I haven't felt like this since I forgot my melatonin at the beach . . . .oh . . . shoot . . " but it works then too, I am just lazy to get out of bed!

This 4-7-8 breathing thing has worked for me also, but it takes more like 5 or 10 minutes, not 60 seconds! And I think it is because the counting breaths is so boring, but you never know what might work. :)

I already recommended ASMR to you, but I find that if you have trouble feeling tired at night in general and just trudging through your days then it's possible you have a Vitamin D deficiency.

Also make sure you're eating enough. Calorie deficiencies make you tired but they also make you restless. If you drink coffee, avoid drinking coffee.

Also if you are so inclined, you could smoke weed. lol

Segue, look into an herb called Valerian .. It can be very helpful ... it can also be combined with melatonin, but truthfully, I have never needed to take both

I am a dreamer. All night every night. While melatonin did help with sleep, it stepped the dreams up a few notches too. The scary kind of weird dreams. Like taking LSD while you sleep. Not for me although I am sure it depends on the person.
