...are you ok with that?

Credit for this thread goes to 2112FirstStreet whose idea it was. :)

Why thank you my dear.

Yes I'm ok with it being the last tour. Physically they are getting to the point where they won't be able to put on a full 3 hour show. And I would hate to have them follow other geezer acts like the Kidney Stones where they milk every last buck. As awesome and enjoyable their career has been, I think they're pretty much over it and want to indulge their other endeavors while they still have quality time.

Quite frankly, they should have quit with CA. I don't know how this one will go. It doesn't sound promising, but we will see.

I would never begin a thread that was someone else's idea and take the credit for it myself. :)

i'm worried too.

and no that doesn't mean i hate Rush.

Just covering my fan boy bases, lol

I'm afraid to say it too. But, I'll tell you what did it for me today - listen to TSOR on the album (if you have a bootleg from either Permanent Waves or Moving Pictures tour, listen to that one instead) and then immediately after listen to the one from CA tour. I won't say another word - you tell me after you've listened to both versions of the song.

But I wonder if they really know that on that level? It's one thing for them to think a whole bunch of fans like their music, but it's another thing to know how deeply some have been affected by their music and what it has meant to them.

If I was a famous musician, and someone told me that, that would mean more to me than anything else. But, that's me. Maybe platinum and gold records mean more to them. I don't know.

It's great that their music would affect someone so deeply and I think they appreciate that. But that can put their heads in weird place...like someone is expecting their music to save the world. If that's the case, then it's sort of making them feel guilty for stopping. But things need to end before it becomes regretful. From every interview I've seen, they seem like regular guys and dont let thing go to their heads....unlike Bono.

I'm sure this tour will be fine. Their schedule is not gruelling and they're doing material they could play in their sleep.

That wasn't what I meant at all.

As I have already said, they should have called it a day at the end of the CA Tour. They're pushing it now. I hope it all goes well for them.

I think the fact that Alex didn't comment on the question in the interview yesterday about it being the last tour was very telling.

I think Geddy sounded fine singing Clockwork Angels material. The DVD is not the best, but when I saw him he did well.

Yes.

I sense a member or 2 are NOT wanting to tour anymore. I do not want to see someone forced to play for money.

Like I said , I never want Rush to play 2000 seat theaters every year at Casinos in Indiana.

Too me that is sad, I am only going because this is a anniversary tour. Those tours are always great.

I don't envision seeing them again. This is it for me too.

No. The band should go on, even with new members. Sports teams go on with different players all the times, and, even though every sports team isn't great every year, some years they are great.

Hire a singer and let Geddy play. Hire a new drummer if Neil doesn't want to play.

But, don't let the music stop.

All I have to go by is the DVD. It is too bad that Rush waits so long into the tour to tape a show.

I have two bootlegs from the tour. I'm going to listen to them today.

Yes, I'm ok with it. I'll also be ok if they change their mind at some point and decide to go out again.

10 years is a good run for a popular band. 41 years is phenomenal. Especially when nearly all of it was with the same lineup. They have more than earned the right to do what makes them happy and to be free from expectations of having to deliver more product.

Every time I saw Rush, I left thinking it could be the last time. I'm grateful that it wasn't the last time before, and I'm now accepting that it will be soon.

And I guess the Ged vocal issue doesn't bother me as much as some. If I listened to Rush *solely* for his singing, it probably would. But there are 4 components to every Rush song (not counting instrumentals, of course) - Ged's playing, Neil's playing, Alex's playing, and Ged's vocals. The first 3 are still spot-on live and the latter was always the least important to me. Not saying I'd choose a 2013 version of TSOR over a 1980 version, but I really don't think 2013 Geddy was all that bad, especially considering how long he's been giving 3-hour shows and of course age, which gets all of us eventually.

Finally, I'm grateful for all the full show DVDs we've gotten. That will soften the blow of someday no longer being able to see the band live.

Yes and No for me; No because I want to go more concerts but Yes because I know they want to go out on a positive note. I am a recent fan and don't get as upset about the vocal difference in Geddy's voice as many here do. Yet I agree about the Clockwork DVD, it doesn't sound as good as I remember him in the concert. If I want to listen to live recordings, I go to R30, Time Machine and Snakes Live. Those sound great to me.

I hope they will still do some recording or other musical projects but I guess we will see. I am so looking forward to this tour!

Yes: I want them to go out in good form. It's been a long time they owe us nothing more.

No: My bucket list was to see them one night after landing in CYYZ.

I had to vote Yes & No...

"Yes" because I would rather them quit while they are still healthy, and playing their music THEIR way, and not compromising things by adding musicians to cover the stuff they can't play anymore (much like the Stones) I see bands that are out there with one or two guys from the original band, and still CALLING it the name of the original band, and acting like nothing's changed, and that sort of bothers me... Mostly when it comes to lead singers (i.e. Kansas, Yes, Foghat, Styx)

I wouldn't have a problem if Alex toured under his name (or another band name) and PLAYED a Rush song or two since that's where he's best known...but to go out on a tour and call himself "RUSH" and him being the only musician from the band would be a bad thing IMHO! So if this IS "it"...I'm glad they're going out on top, and doing what they do best!

"No" because I'm a selfish bastard and I don't want it to end! :nya nya:
