This gun has been handed down in my family since it was bought. Great gun, very dependable. Pump action, octogon barrel. Fun gun to shoot.

Wow!!

That is so super sweet!

That's one of the great things about firearms. They can be handed from one generation to the next and actually can be a link to the past.

A well-maintained firearm can last for hundreds of years and still shoot as sweet and even increase in value.

While I am not going to go into a whole shpeel for gun control, I will leave it at I am in favor of stricter gun control and have never opperated a firearm.

I've never touched a real gun and if I have anything to say about it, never will. No offense anyone, but why a thread glorifying guns? confused13.gif

Maybe some of us enjoy shooting. I know I do. Besides, I don't think that this thread 'glorifies' guns per se, but is instead a thread for gun enthusiasts. Bottom line: if it bugs you, don't read it.

Now that that is out of the way, here's my list of what I have fired.

Colt .45 M1911A1.

M-16 on both single fire and full auto.

Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 Gauge.

1914 Springfield.

1904 Enfield.

M-1 Garrand.

.50 Cal.

M-60.

M-14.

Winchester 30-30.

Ruger mini-14.

Ruger Bearcat.

Colt .44 revolver.

Colt .44 derringer.

Desert Eagle .44.

Chinese SKS.

Hi-Standard .22 long rifle match pistol.

Edited to add: I can't believe that I forgot the Mark 75 76mm deck gun BA-BOOM!

OK, I am officially jealous.

Especially of the Springfield, Enfield, and the Hi-Standard match.

I would very much enjoy shooting any of those fine firearms.

I like the Berretta.  The largets I have handled is a Thirty ott six.  (spelling)  I think I felt my hair fly back on that one, and I took a limb off a tree.  I had the hugest bruise on my shoulder, even tho I held it tight to me.  I enjoy shooting.

You go girl!

A .30-06 (thirty aught six in case you are interested - you were real close on your phonetic spelling) is a handful for anyone. I'm proud of you AGP; a lot of women would really be put off by the recoil from this cartridge. Hey, a lot of men would be too. Especially in a lighter weight rifle - it can kick like a mule.

BTW, just a bit of history because I'm a geek. It's called a .30-06 because it is .30 caliber developed in 1906.

God help the man that tries to mess with you!!

snip...

So... What have you handled?

I learned to shoot when I was 7 with a Ruger (1967) Super single six .22 caliber pistol. wub.gif We later had Ruger modify it and add a 9.5" barrel and a .22 magnum cylinder. I still love to bang away at juice cans on a pry bar with it. biggrin.gif (((grin))) biggrin.gif

I graduated to my Dad's Ruger Old model (1969) Super Blackhawk .44 caliber pistol. wub.gif This is what I hunt with now.

My first year hunting I used a Winchester 94 .32 caliber WS Special. This was my Grandfather's gun, and though I love him dearly, I won't shoot this one again till we put a recoil pad on it. Damn that thing kicks and the butt of the stock is METAL! wacko.gif

I also hunt with a Winchester 94 Trapper .44 caliber lever action rifle with a Bushnell Banner 3/9scope.

(I PREFER the pistol though; MUCH easier to move through the woods.)

This year I might trade with my Dad and hunt with the Ruger New model (1997) Super Blackhawk .44 caliber pistol with a 10.5" barrel.

Other guns I shoot regularly:

1903 Colt Pocket Pistol .32 caliber automatic (not really fond of this one)

Smith & Wesson K22 masterpiece 6" barrel

Smith & Wesson 642 .38 Special (NOT very fond of this one either)

Iver Johnson 12 Gauge double barrel side by side shotgun

(Another Kicker with a metal butt wacko.gif )

Winchester Model 94/22 .22 caliber rifle wub.gif

Weatherby Mark XXII .22 semi automatic w/ Bushnell banner 4/20 scope. wub.gif

These are great guns for target shooting!

I've shot a 20 gauge shotgun, I don't know what make it was; but my Dad said whatever you do, DON'T DROP it it's worth almost 2000 dollars. It was a very NICE gun to shoot, and had almost NO recoil!

I'm looking for a 16 or 20 gauge shotgun for turkey hunting. This will be my "first gun" that I will have of my own. The rest are my dad's (Although when he brought the Winchester .22 rifle up; he said look what I got for you.)

Any suggestions?

Cut my teeth on a Remington breech loader .22. 'Bout as basic as they get but darn accurate!! I'm still a pretty good shot with a rifle or shotgun (skeet mostly); one hunting trip, one dove!

Fire at will??!!

Which one's Will?? cool.gif

Nevermind now, I shot Will about a month ago. laugh.gif

(This is a joke, I didn't really shoot anyone, I was going along with the joke.)

Various rifles, shotguns, and handguns, of differing calibers, gauges, and actions. Too many to remember them all.

As a farm boy growing up in rural south carolina, firearms -- and hunting -- were a basic part of my education from an early age.

Probably the most "exotic" firearm I have ever fired was a muzzle loading black powder musket. It think it was .50 caliber, iirc. The big cloud of smoke was cool.

I haven't actually owned a firearm in years, but in recent months have been thinking of re-arming myself. (Hey, the way things are going, we best be ready for the second american revolution when it comes)

Recently in the local Wal-Mart a particular rifle caught my eye. It's a Remington Model 700 ADL bolt action, .270 caliber, and she is a real beauty. Pleasing to the eye, light and wonderful to hold, shoulder, and aim, she seems to call out to me when I hold her "buy me, you and I were meant for each other." Methinks I couldn't find a better weapon to start my personal re-armament program.

Anybody here ever owned a Rem Model 700? If so, your opinions on the rifle, please.
