You might not want to think about the crème filling while you're chowing down.

Narpski, I forgot about that incident. Now I'm a little concerned about the chocolate cream in the center of these cupcakes.

And I'm not sure how you can manage to post from your phone all day. I'm doing it now and can't use Emoticons or Quote people.

I am on my laptop (like now) most of the time when I am at home. I can't do sh*t from my phone either.....

You can post emoticons from your phone, you just have to remember the "code" for them. Like ": cheers :" for  ;)

Start with Hemispheres. Then move on to 2112 (side one only), A Farewell to Kings (esp. Xanadu), then move on to Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures.

If you're going to start with songs, begin with Xanadu, then move on to La Villa Strangiato, 2112, and Natural Science.

Forget they recorded anything between 1985 and 2010.

I would say this, except go in chronological order.

2112

A Farewell to Kings

Hemispheres

Permanent Waves

Moving Pictures

1. Walk into store

2. Pick up an album

3. Look at album cover

4. Read title of album

5. Flip album over

6. Read the track listing

(optional - start at 2 again or go directly to 7)

7. If it interests you pay for it (or not - your preference)

8. Leave store

9. Listen to album

10. Repeat 9

Just find what you like on your own. It's your journey and your discovery.

Don't listen to what people tell you to listen to. Go through their catalog at your own pace and discover what you like.

"walk into store"

LOL that was a good one.

NO, but the OP got turned onto the band by watching Live In Cleveland, which Geddy was seriously struggling on, so who knows.

You're getting lots of good suggestions in this thread. Personally I would suggest picking up Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, and Moving Pictures. There is so much good music on those three albums. You can move on from there.

In all seriousness, I started with Chronicles.

Me too.

Bah, I still do this and I'm only in my late 20's. I've always been, say, around 10 years behind on current technology. Add in the fact that the record store in my home town was always my mecca. Until I can't find one near me, I will always be going into them.

Yup. Walking in, spending a half hour or hour digging around through all the bins. Sometimes buying an album just based on the cover (and if you were really lucky it would be good!). Sometimes talking with the staff, if they had similar tastes, and then they might turn you on to a band you didn't previously know about.

Then you take your album home and run your fingernail down the opening to tear the plastic, and hope you didn't get a papercut under the nail as you did that. Take the record out, see if there were any notes scratched into the vinyl around the label. Look at the album artwork, photos, read the lyrics...
