I basically have had a rubbish day.. then I take a peek here and see how much you all have noticed how flaky my convictions to an opinion are...

...and I cheered up 100%!

Ok...here's the deal...I will try another Kansas album this week. Or maybe just give that No Return (whatsitcalled?) album another spin...

Only two bands I can think of that I have ALWAYS hated are Nickleback and McFly. So I has the faith my mind can be swayed in (1, 2, 3...)

KANSAS ARE THE BEST BAND I HAVE EVER HEARD! OMYDAYSOMYDAYSOMYDAYS!!

FWIW, My favorite Kansas album is Song For America. Have you listened to that one?

Yeah! Try Song for America

I feel about about a large portion of Springsteen. There's his first 4 then mounds of filler.

(Sorry Segue :outtahere:

Mick

I feel even worse about Springsteen, his whole career is just one big yawn...

He seems like his only reason to exist is to tell people to vote democrat and to provide Rolling Stone with albums to wank over

Dave Hope is one of my all time favorite bass players. Once he left the band everything went downhill. Not to say that that was the reason but it just happened about the same time.

I have tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried...

...and tried and tried and tried...

...to get into this band, but I can't. All the talent this band has is undeniable, but I just cannot enjoy them. I dunno why, but they just...suck...

I like bits and pieces, but they really grate on me after a while.

You never know...you might pull a "Segue" and suddenly they'll be your favourite band. You've stopped surprising me now :D

Sometimes you have to hear a band or a particular piece of music at the right time in your life to really get them. I've had that happen with books too. Try to read something and just can't get into it and then maybe years later I'll try again and love it.

I don't mind the first few albums. I think tony called these guys hillbilly prog once, and that's pretty accurate. poor man's prog. fun stuff, but I think having heard yes/genesis/renaissance/gentle giant/etc beforehand made them a lot harder to get into. still much better than styx, journey and most of the other swirling church organ arena rock from the era.

I'm gonna try and go see them in january, since they're playing about 30 minutes from my house. I'm not really a big fan, but they manage to pack all their good shit into the live shows.

Kansas rules. I dunno if I would call them poor mans prog, but whatever you call it, they still made some fantastic music. Excellent musicianship and great songwriting. Steve Walsh and Robby Steinhardt were two of the best vocalists of the 70's, as well as tallented instrumentalists. As far as I'm concerned, The Pinnacle is a prog rock masterpiece, right up there with anything Yes or Genesis ever did.

Good grief that Segue is a douchebag.

How can anyone be so deaf to great music?

He is awesome though.

Sorry about this...

Great fuckking band! I saw them open for YES and STYX.

KANSAS BLEW THEM ALL AWAY!

If we could have that lineup, but with all bands performing at the peak of their powers, we would have an epic gig!

P.S. I would want Kansas to headline.

Steve Walsh had one of the clearest, most pure voices in rock in the 70's.

Played some vintage live videos on YouTube. His talent was unquestionable.

They were immense!

Best. Surprise. Ever.

Never thought I'd find hard rock music from the seventies I like as much as Rush!

Perhaps even moreso...

Kansas, Journey, Styx, Boston you can't go wrong. Journey is right up your alley. Early very good rock and later much cheese and ballads.....
