  5. Good point, I’d probably just forgotten a few things over the years.
  6. Wow, just saw this, really enjoyed that interview, so relaxed and just great insights. Great job (Both Dan and Geddy).
  7. Yes, love the Duke album, it's my favourite Genesis studio album, with Seconds Out my favourite live one. I'd suggest Giving it one more try, at night, on headphones, from start to finish with no interruptions.
  8. The build up, the timing, the emotion, I think it's one of those fills that just fits and makes the song so good. I think those earlier years with Chester Thompson were brilliant as well, some of the fills in Seconds Out (eg Los Endos) have that similiar "structure" to them.
  9. Top 5 for me with Spheres, Waves, Pictures, Windows. Top tracks for me... Caravan, BU2B, Angels, Anarchist, Seven Cities, Wreckers, Headlong Flight, Garden. 8 classics. Great energy on this tour as well, brilliant, love it.

  14. Classic. Still remember buying this on release day. I was 17 and had been working at my first job for a month. Walked into the record store, there it was on the new release wall $12.99 (New Zealand). Went home and that night... wow what a great memory, those opening moments of Tom Sawyer right through to Vital Signs, what a journey. 36 years ago... no way, seems like half that time...

  16. Genesis and Rush would be my personal favourite two bands over the years. The overall mixture of those two bands when I first started getting into music in the mid 70's I think has influenced most of what I've listed to and enjoyed in music ever since. For me Genesis Seconds Out 1977 and Duke 1980 together with Rush Hemisphers 1978, Permanent Waves 1980 and Moving Pictures 1981 are just crystal clear memories from my 13-18 year old "times". (Together with Supertramp Crime of the Century, Pink Floyd Darkside of the moon and Kansas Two for the show). More to the point though... I think for me at the time both bands were different to a lot of the stuff around at the time and the combination of both I found was a huge and rewarding listening experience. When I look back now based on what I have read over the years I think it was because both bands were pushing the boundries, trying to create new sounds, structures, emotions through their music with rock, classical, jazz influences and creating their own sound in the process. I'm also a part time average drummer and the drums have always been something I'd been drawn to growing up and hearing Phil Collins / Chester Thompson on Seconds Out and Neil Peart on Hemispheres / Permanent Waves for the first time in 1977 (Seconds Out) and 1980 (purchase of my first two Rush albums) respectively I was just totally blown away... I think that may have been my first key "linking" point... in my mind... to both bands.

  18. Here's mine, the first 5 have been fairly much unchanged for the last few years. I can remember getting my first 2 Rush albums...Hemispheres and Permenent Waves, when I was 16 back in early 1980. That Hemispheres album I just played over and over again... had never heard anyting lke it... brilliant stuff. 01. Hemispheres 02. Moving Pictures 03. Permanent Waves 04. Clockwork Angels 05. 19. Overall Muse would be the band of the 2000's for me. Symmetry (2001), Absolution (2003) and Revelations (2006). These three albums, three classics in a row for me. Saw them in 2007 and it was one of the best shows I'd ever been to. The HAARP live DVD from that tour is just huge, 80,000 at Wembley it's just magic. To me the band were at their peak and were just massive. This just over the top, having said that, I really do enjoy watching this at least a couple of times a year... that crowd! Very very talented band of musicians... love that drum kit as well...
  20. Brilliant, this and Empire Strikes back I would actually go out and buy... both classics to me.
  21. These two are my favourites from each... A dead heat for me both 10/10. Classics.
  22. The Shining, oh my 37 years on... the kid on the bike riding down those corridors in the hotel... seems like only yesterday, classic suspense.
  23. Presto, Trails, Snakes and Angels are my faves from this era. Angels is top 4 for me with Spheres, Waves, Pictures and just ahead of Windows.
