Farewell... sad day today

One of the great comedies of today is going away. I haven't had that feeling of "I'm going to miss this show" in quite a long time. I loved Sopranos, but was ready fro it to end due to a couple crappy seasons thrown in to make it longer.

Good bye 30 Rock!

Other shows I have missed:

Cheers

Seinfeld

E.R.

Those are the only 3 I can think of off the top of my head. When Simpsons calls it quits, that will immediately make the list.... I pretty much grew up with them.

Anyone else have shows they missed when they called it quits? I never liked MASH... didn't think it was funny, and it was before my time anyway but I'm sure a lot of people will put that on their list.

I still miss Monk, believe it or not. It took me a LONG time to appreciate the show; my husband and I both initially thought it was stupid, so once we got addicted we had to catch up on about 4 seasons' worth!

Cheers was never much good after Sam sold the bar, IMO. But the first few seasons were comedy gold.

Sam sold it and bought it back like 87 times

Shit My Dad Says. I thought Shatner was brilliant. I must have been in the minority, because it only lasted one season. :(

I was sad to see Seinfeld go.

Most of the shows that are cancelled have run their course and are no longer entertaining. At the end, programs like Mash, Friends, Three's Company, and the list goes on and on, are a shell of their former selves.

Cheers and Seinfeld were the only ones I was really sad to lose. I've seen other good shows go (Friends, King of Queens, Raymond), but losing them didn't bother me much. I think Cheers was consistently good, right up to the end. Seinfeld episodes were hit-or-miss for the last couple seasons, but I still appreciated that it was around.

The last episode of Seinfeld was the only remotely funny episode in the last two or so years. The first few years were brilliant but the storylines became contrived and sometimes quite frankly stupid late in its run, after Larry David left. Kramer as a turkey? The Puerto Rican parade episode? Those were sh!t...

I was surely pissed when CBS cancelled Shark with James Woods after only two seasons. Likewise with Boston Public. These were very good shows IMO and a hell lot better than some of the shows on now. Why do they cancel the goods shows anyway? Some real morons at the networks if you ask me.....

:rage: :boo hiss:

Almost every sitcom ever made can only fantasize about being half as funny as some of these Bugs Bunny episodes

It ended in 2005. Word must take awhile to travel over the pond to you, huh?

While I did like 30 Rock a lot, I wasn't that sad to see it end. Ratings weren't too great for them the last couple seasons, so the fact that they got seven seasons out of the show is a very good thing. As long as a show is given a chance and a good run, I usually don't mind when it ends. 30 Rock did have a good run so there was no complaints from me on the show ending. The main thing I might miss is Jack Donaghy, one of the greatest TV characters of all time. Also, I don't care what anybody says, Tina Fey is sexy as hell.

I didn't even realize..! I saw some of the episodes, so I thought they were still running...

Don't forget "The Rabbit of Seville". One of the all-time greats and I can never ever hear the real thing without quietly singing the Bugs Bunny lyrics.

i loved 30 rock. a smart well written show. but this last season was unwatchable. tracey was just off his game.

Yes, it was very well written. The thing I loved is their smart jokes were equally as funny to the dumb/toilet humor jokes they had. I thought the last season was just OK but it's obvious they didn't care too much anymore because they knew the show was over. They had to rush things along to. Except for season 2 which was shortened because of the writers strike, every other season had 20 something episodes. NBC only gave them 13 for the final season so I guess they just figured let's get the show over with since the network isn't gonna give us a full season to end the show on.

I read that Alec Baldwin offered to cut his salary in order for the show to have a full 7th and 8th season . NBC obviously didn't go with this at all. I guess they really wanted the show to be over.
