MarKo
Definitely my favourite on the album. It's quintessential Rush..... Drum intro, Bass then a killer guitar riff. Loads of Drum n Bass chops....great lyrics...etc.... etc.... That first 90 seconds is up there with all my favourite bits of Rush music. Can't wait to hear it live.... In fact the whole album will sound Fantastic live.... Wonder how they'll do the strings... With a real live string section or triggered....??? "The booze of boys in the scarlet mist that's billowed into rage..." I agree - the lyrics on this gem are superb. Neil has really nailed it on this one!! Now that's some clever interpretation! Stormtron
Yeah, this is hands down my favorite on the album. It was my immediate favorite after the first listen, and it's still my favorite after listening to the album a shitton. Total 80s Rush vibe on this one. ArrowSnake
QUOTE (Slack jaw gaze @ Jun 10 2012, 05:08 AM) The intro is off the hook. The drums remind me of Wipeout. Yeah it reminds me of Wipeout too. Definitely some surf-style drumming going on. It's also a bit like Keith Moon, who was influenced by surf music drummers.
Slack jaw gaze
Surely a song this good can't be legal in all 50 states, can it?
Todem
One of the best on the album. Can't disagree. A great song. I still have no idea what my top 5 is right now.....the honeymoon is still going. I think in another month or so I will have a firm grasp on my top 5 tunes from CA. Not an easy task.....and that's a great thing. With Snakes I knew within a week or so my 5 favorite tunes. With CA...it will take much longer. The material is so powerful. default236
I swear I hear BB&B in this song. I'm not the only one right? just that one part after the opening riff. Sounds so good.
ChiliFan
That riff at 0:56 is my favourite part of the new album, it's just fantastic. I love it when they break away from the undercurrent of distorted heavy guitar to have something like that. Also the bass fills over the main riff are brilliant. losingit2k
QUOTE (Slack jaw gaze @ Jun 9 2012, 11:08 PM) The intro is off the hook. The drums remind me of Wipeout. Is there a "cooler" Rush song? Actually the drum intro is the only thing i don't like about the song! I felt it would have been better with Alex's starting the song with his rhythm chords! Kelly D
QUOTE (Hakky2112 @ Jun 10 2012, 03:27 AM) I am so back/forth on what song is my fave, KellyD. I love everything so much more now that the hard-rocking pre-releases of Caravan/BU2B/Headlong Flight, balanced a timely and relevant delivery of precious, delicious and scrumptious mix of guitar/bass, vocals(!!!) and drums. ABSOLUTE CLASSIC. Out of the park on this one... A man could lose his past/way in an (album?) like this...? I am lost, on replay, hit me...with 7 cities of gold... I can't wait to see how this album ages

Or even pools of poison for those boozy boys all amist in scarlet? I love this song. Y'all mentioned the Signals/GUP sound...Ged's bass lines seem like they would fit on GUP like something out of Kid Gloves or The Body Electric, what a killer bass riff. What great lyrics too...just a great song all around. Anarchist is in the middle of a stretch of great songs, the first 9 are so good it's really hard to overstate my giddyness over this album. Lerxster
After several listens now, I find this song to be.. perfect, I mean, it's an amazing achievement. The riffs are perhaps the most pleasing since TSOR. I can't believe this song isn't the next single. CA and this song make a whopping one-two punch of brilliance. I don't think I'm overreacting.
