Back in the day, you didn't even know to be excited because unless you bought a rock magazine you'd have no idea if your favorite band was even making a new album. So most the time, unless you were extremely lucky, you'd have to listen to the radio for days and eventually you'd end up hearing some dj in a horrible over the top dj voice say "In the next hour, you better RUSH back to your radio because we'll be playing the new single by RUSH" or some horrible intro like that. Then you'd sit there listening to the same songs they played all day until the end of that hour just to hear it once. Then if you happened to have a tape recorder near by you could make a horrible sounding copy of the song with every sound that was made in the room and with the dj talk up and usually either the dj talking at the end of the song or another song coming in before the end of song. Then my favorite was checking the newspaper every day looking for the little schedule for the Richfield Coliseum or Blossom Music Center (well if you lived in NE Ohio ) to check to see if any band I liked was coming in the near future. All the younger fans on this board should count yourselves lucky to not have to deal with the way it was "back in the day." And I was lucky enough to get into music near the end of the album and beginning of the cassette. I know some people love records, but the day I could put a little cassette into a boom box, walkman or my car was an amazing day! So just for fun, go back to listening to the radio for all your RUSH info. After about a day of listening to the same 15 songs over and over and over, if you haven't killed yourself, come back and let us know how it went.
