  1. So glad the nicest guy on TRF is still posting. Also, I read one person who didn't get it. So I was explaining my take on it. Sorry Captain Sunshine. Glad somethings haven't changed on TRF.
  2. Yes Alex's speech was especially annoying since he said nothing at all... ... If you thought he said nothing at all than you may want to catch up on Rush's history with the RRHOF. For anyone who thought it was annoying than you people are sorely lacking in the humor department. Listen to the audience during his speech and he is getting big laughs from people for a couple of minutes straight. Do you know how hard it is for a comedian to do the same thing? There are not a lot of comedians that can do that. (The ones that can are usually the best.). I was laughing throughout most of it and I still laugh every time I watch it. That, my friends, was pure comedic genius! :goodone:  Hey Goobs...hope you are doing well! And I agree :goodone:
  3. Ok...I haven't read thru the whole thread but...Alex's speech was classic. It mocked the RRHOF. Let me explain it to you. He told the story of starting out as a band. Playing. Having hits songs. Then getting to 25 years and eligible. Then when he starts with the meaner sounding "blah blah blah's" it's him basically saying that it was BS they didn't get elected OR that people said that. Then he imitated a phone call from the RRHOF saying they got in. He got his speech out where people probably thought he might actually speak..then he does a "blah blah blah" thank you to Geddy and Alex and ends with thanking the fans. Re-watch it with that in mind and you will realize it was PURE COMEDIC FU RRHOF GENIUS! Also playing The Spirit of Radio instead of Limelight was telling at least to me...."glittering prizes and endless compromises, shatters the illusion of integrity". And Dave Grohl saying "cough rolling stone" was freaking awesome! Best indictment EVER! (see Neil's speech before you say "it's induction"
  4. Ju Just watched it and LOVE that they ended with the best AND an actual Rock band! The induction speech was awesome especially the "...cough...rolling stone"! The speeches were brilliant and no speech was more brilliant than Alex. You can tell he was telling the story of being ignored by the RRHOF for so long. Absolutely BLAH BLAH BLAH....BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!!!!!!!! And obviously of the fans in attendance I'd say 70% RUSH! Even the table section with the VIPs were standing when they finished. Also playing The Spirit of Radio was beautiful "glittering prizes and endless compromises shatter the illusion of integrity" I think a big FU to the RRHOF!
  5. Wow...I thought more would say yes. I said NO! As much as I love it I don't think it qualifies as an epic. It's just not on the level of songs that I consider epic like 2112, Hemispheres, Natural Science, Xanadu...songs of that ilk. While I love this song, it doesn't qualify. I'm hoping Clockwork Angels or Seven Cities of Gold will be though.
  6. I will definitely buy it if its the album version. I think it will be as that's what it says on Amazon. The cool thing is we don't NEED to buy it now. So if it is the radio edit, no big deal. Just like now I don't have to be at my computer at 9:12am tomorrow morning to hear a freaking radio edit! In fact, I hope I don't hear the radio edit ever!!!
  7. QUOTE (Mara @ Apr 18 2012, 05:42 PM)Has someone really expressed hatred for it or (as I suspect) did some tool just vote "Hate It" merely to be a smartass? Because if someone does really hate it enough to pick that poll option, they should have the stones to explain why. I think I know who it was...and yeah...this person is a tool , although this person might not like the song either which wouldn't surprise me. And that's all I will say about that.
  8. I voted LOVE IT! Based on the version that we are hearing now that will NOT be as good as the CD version.
  9. I hear so many little bits that remind me of earlier RUSH songs and later songs for that matter, intertwined in Headlong Flight. I remember someone at the listening party saying HF had parts that sounded like Bastille Day and Bytor...and at parts of the song, I can hear the reason for both comparisons. I can already say 100% I LOVE the music. I suck at hearing lyrics even when most can hear them easily, so I can't wait to read the lyrics and listen. I already have a crappy burnt copy on a CD that I'm gonna listen to when I'm driving tomorrow and I can't wait! "I stoke the fire of the big steel wheels"
  10. If some people don't like it...I don't care. I like it. I'm sure the CD version will sound better and it's always better when you have the lyrics in front of you. I'm one of those deaf people that can't hear lyrics usually anyway. But I'd agree, it's hard to hear Geddy but again, I'm holding judgement until they album comes out. And the radio edit is gonna suck balls! They will be cutting alot of the cool parts most likely!
  11. I'm in the middle of the song right now...and I love the music...have to think the CD will be better quality vocals....but still, first listen...I love it.
  12. forget every bad thing I ever said about Rolling Stone!!! WOW
  13. QUOTE (danielmclark @ Apr 15 2012, 02:23 PM)If the US gets a radio edit and UK gets the full version, there's a real simple solution. Download the UK version from a sharing site. Problem solved. If you have an Amazon acct, you can log-in to Amazon UK and just buy it on the 22nd, which is what I plan on doing. Your log-in info works on both the US and the UK version of Amazon. The bad part for us in the US is waiting for them to ship the MP3 all the way from the UK!!!
  14. Now we have an official TRF Amazon link so anyone who pre-ordered on Amazon without using the link above should just log-in to your Amazon acct and cancel your order then re-order using the above link. It literally takes like 10 seconds to do. (or use the link in the pinned thread at the top of the CA forum. ) For one, TRF will get a cut which is the least we can do. And two, if when you originally ordered it was for more than the current price of $16.11, you may still have to call them if they "forget" to give you the "Pre-order Price Guarantee." Especially if you ordered when it was at $19.99. Hopefully the price will drop even lower, but if it doesn't, you might as well just cancel and re-order using the link above to guarantee you get it for $16.11 without having to call and remind them.
  15. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 15 2012, 03:04 PM) QUOTE (treeduck @ Apr 15 2012, 11:56 AM) QUOTE (Tony R @ Apr 15 2012, 11:45 AM) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v619/reedlover/CP%20Pics/1cc22700.jpg Says 7:20... That's way better than the album art... It's not even close. SOOO much better than the red swirly mess that is the actual album cover. I could not agree more. While I don't mind the actual red album cover, this looks so much better. RUSH already had a red album cover!! I wish they would have went with this as the album cover. I am glad that we will be getting the album version of HF instead of having to buy the radio edit. That was one of my only complaints...buying the shortened version then buying the longer version. I can't wait. I am actually trying to stay away from here and RIAB as much as possible to make the wait easier!
  16. If a TRF Amazon link becomes available for this pre-order, please post it in here. Current Clockwork Angels CD price on Amazon.com US: $16.11 As of this post. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/1001001/TRF_Graphics/CA_Amazon_link2.jpg MOD EDIT: Added official TRF link. Thanks, Presto!
  17. ***KIND REQUEST - If this thread is considered a waste of your time based on the title. Or if you are not interested in ordering on Amazon or you think people should order CA from another website or store. Or just any comment that isn't necessary for this thread, PLEASE just don't waste yours and others time posting in here. If you think this is a stupid idea for a thread or this could have been posted in another thread, again, I'm just asking, please just save your time and don't post. The title is pretty self explanatory so if you click it and you have no intention of buying CA on Amazon or if saving $4 or $5 isn't worth it to you, again, I'm just kindly asking that you just not post to this thread. Thanks*** ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The purpose of this thread is for those of us who have pre-ordered CA on Amazon.com's US website. They offer a "Pre-order Price Guarantee" which means that even if you ordered it the first day it was available for $19.99, if the price drops after that...even after it ships...as long is it's before June 12th, you will get the lowest price that it was offered for. SO....the purpose of this thread is to post when you see any price drop for CA on Amazon's US website. When CA was first listed on Amazon the price was $19.99. Since then I have seen the price change 3 times. I ordered it yesterday when it dropped to $16.73, but then today it dropped to $16.11. I have a feeling this could end up dropping down around the $14.99 range before it's released. To me, saving $5 is worth keeping an eye on it once a day. If anyone else who pre-ordered CA on Amazon wants to check it occasionally and post any time the price drops lower than the $16.11 it's at right now, we could all help each other out and make sure we get the lowest price available. Again, if it's not worth it to you to save a couple bucks, then just be cool and don't bother posting in this thread. I'm just trying to do this as a way to help us get the best price we can and make sure Amazon doesn't "forget" about their "Pre-order Price Guarantee". (see below why I said they "forget") I will try to check it at least once a day and if the price drops under $16.11, I will post to this thread. Please do the same. Amazon is like the stock market, the prices can and do change all day long. On the Hemispheres Poster Thread a while back, the price went up and down so much, that while I and others were posting what the price was, it would change by the time we finished posting and went back to buy it. I don't see it changing that much for CA, but it has and will change. So that is the point of this thread. To alert others who have pre-ordered from Amazon's US website when the price for CA drops. Today it's at $16.11. Below is some other info explaining my experience with Amazon and why I am going to watch the price and make sure they give me the lowest price. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am an avid Amazon user and buy a lot of stuff from them. I have an Amazon Prime membership which is $79 per year and gives you free 2 day shipping on any item marked "Amazon Prime". Most the stuff I buy, CDs, DVDs, Books and even household items usually are offered as Amazon Prime. In my experience with pre-orders, 3 times (I've only pre-ordered items about 5 times) they have not given me the lowest price. Only once did I call and complain as the price difference was $5, and funny enough, it was on a RUSH item. (2112 & MP Classic Album DVD/BluRay Combo pack). I pre-ordered it for $27.99 and I just happened to see the price drop down to $22.99 (now it's $35.99!). The other two times they didn't give me the lowest price, it was under $00.50 so I didn't bother wasting my time. But to save $5, it was worth it for me to call, for some, maybe not. When I called to tell them I didn't get the lowest price, the customer service rep had no way to tell what the lowest price that the DVD/BluRay had dropped to, or so he said. So he went by my word that I had seen the price drop by $5. (I should have said $10!) So for all I know, the price could have dropped even lower, but since I didn't see it, I only went by the lowest price I saw. And here is one great tip that is the best way to monitor anything you are interested in buying on Amazon and make sure you get it for the best price possible. Any item that you are interested in, just place it in your shopping cart then hit "Save for Later". Do NOT use the wish list feature. By using the "save for later" function, every time you go into your shopping cart, any item in your cart that was "saved for later" that changed price since the last time you entered your shopping cart will appear at the top of your cart in a beige box showing the price change. I have literally saved $100's by doing this. I put everything that I might be interested in, that is if the price was crazy low, in my shopping cart and hit "save for later". So the DVD that you don't think is worth buying at $15.99 but you would buy at $6.98, just throw it in your cart and hit "save for later". To see an example with screen shots and for more detailed info and other Amazon tips, just go to the Hemispheres Poster Thread. I currently have over 180 items in my shopping cart right now, "Saved for Later". Once you start doing that, my other tip is to make a link directly to your Amazon shopping cart and put it on your desktop or in you favorites. Then EVERY time you go to Amazon just go straight to your shopping cart. That way you will see anything that has changed price since the last time you went to your cart. I have so many things in my cart that just about every time, even 2 or 3 times in a day, that I click the direct link to my shopping cart on my computer desktop, it will show me something that changed price. Sometimes it's just a couple cents. But other times it can be $10 or more. One great pretty great deal I remember off the top of my head was for the TV show "Curb Your Enthusiasm" Season 3 DVD. The price had been hovering around $27.99 to $31.99, which was more than I was willing to pay for it. (just for an idea, the price right now is $21.99) One day I went to my shopping cart and it had dropped to $12.99! I wasn't planning on getting it that day, but I couldn't pass up that deal. So I put anything that I might be interested in, if the price is right, in my shopping cart and try to go to my cart at least once every couple days or better yet, every day. And lastly, since I'm getting 2 copies of CA, one for me and one as a gift. That is the reason I decided to pre-order one on Amazon to try and get the lowest price I can, and then I will pay the higher price at my local music store on release day to guarantee no possible delays or even having to wait until the UPS guy shows up around 6:00 PM on June 12th!
  18. Yeah...I'm gonna guess those aren't the lyrics. Those are pretty bad. If by some crazy chance they are...Neil must be channeling his inner 10th grade school girl. Most of those lyric websites are updated by anyone who signs up and has an account. Not sure about the websites mentioned, but my guess is this is someone wanting attention and playing a little prank.
  19. QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Apr 12 2012, 11:46 AM) That's certainly the only assurance. I know my ass will be at Best Buy when they open. I'm not so reliant on my mail carrier or our system, for that matter. ^THIS! I will be at Best Buy at opening time. Amazon is pretty good with getting it to you on release day, but there are so many variables that the only way to guarantee that your not sitting there scanning the internet or having to buy the digital download is to walk into a store and buy it. Plus, it's fun when you run into a fellow RUSH fan doing the same thing! So anyone who lives in the Akron, Ohio area, first off, I'm sorry. But secondly, you will see me on June 12th about 20 mins before BB opens sitting in my car waiting. UNLESS... And here is the best tip of all: If you have a small privately owned record store in you area...not a lot around anymore, go there on June 9 and look around, maybe buy something, then ask "will you have the new RUSH CD on June 12th?" If he/she says yes, say "you would be my personal hero if there was anyway I could get a copy a day early!" More times than not you will end up with a copy the day before.
  20. QUOTE (snowdog212 @ Apr 12 2012, 01:44 PM)QUOTE (Rush-O-Matic @ Apr 12 2012, 09:19 AM) I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but what is the deal around here with starting new threads? Do you get points for that, or something? The tracklist was posted in two other existing threads that related to the track length almost an hour before this thread was started. Is it necessary to clog up the forum with as many new threads as possible? It's really odd to me. When I posted the tracklist before, I wasn't sure if it had already been reported, so I spent just a few minutes checking other threads and even did a search to make sure. Am I the only one that does that? I enjoy visiting these forums and discussing all things Rush, but HOLY CRAP it takes forEVER to sort through redundant threads. The threads being started on here border on the absurd to ridiculous I get the not wanting duplicate threads argument and for that reason I always do a search to try to make sure that I'm not starting a duplicate. But 2 things. One, the reason you have to deal with duplicate threads is because you haven't been paying for your TRF subscription. All of us who pay the $19.99 monthly fee get the enhanced version of the forum that AUTOMATICALLY deletes duplicate threads AND moves misplaced threads to the correct section AND most importantly for your problem with "threads being started on here border on the absurd to ridiculous," the paid version sends those threads directly to "The Rolling Stone Forum". So the blame falls squarely on your shoulders for not paying your monthly membership fee. I mean, you don't expect a free website run by human beings to spend all day making an online environment for us to blather on like I'm doing now for free do you? That said, I'm glad this thread was started because I didn't know that the track times were even released besides HF, Caravan and BU2B. So I would most likely not know right now the track lengths, which I want to know, and now...I know. So thanks to the OP for starting this thread. AND BU2B is almost 1 minute longer and since I already went to the track list thread I wasn't gonna head back in any time soon and I would not be "in the know" which would have sucked for me! So, I get the duplicate thread argument...but it doesn't make any sense for this thread. And as for the "absurd to ridiculous" threads, again that falls on you because your not paying your monthly membership fee. Now that I've addressed that important issue...WOW...I can't wait to hear this album! So many longer songs...looks like every song is contributing to the "concept", the clip released sounds amazing, the cover and other artwork we have seen looks awesome, we might be getting 2 discs...a CD and a DVD... WTF does anyone have to complain about for the love of RUSH!? Oh wait, I do have one complaint...I don't like that particular shade of red on the cover!!! Those bastards!!!!!!
  21. QUOTE (danielmclark @ Apr 12 2012, 11:09 AM)And if you look really closely, you'll see that the angle is 21.12 degrees!!!! OMFG!!!!! http://omfg.biz/omfg.jpg At first glance I was like WTF is this troll doing...then I looked again and was like...well played sir! And if the angel is really set at 21.12 degrees which I am just gonna take Daniel's word for it...that is a pretty spectacular post for a "long awaited froind"! My only complaint is you should have made it red!!!!
  22. QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Apr 12 2012, 12:06 AM) QUOTE (canadianice @ Apr 11 2012, 06:12 PM) How the hell can you judge anything by a 30 second clip You can't.... Especially without any vocals.... Ok.... I'm being half serious, half joking and half "really?" Yeah, that's 150%!! The point is simply....you heard 30 seconds a song called Headlong Flight by the musical band called RUSH, as has been said...without vocals. Did you like what you heard? That's all...not trying to determine that this is the greatest ever, just when the sound waves penetrated into your ear drums, did your brain think..."hmmm, I love that 30 seconds of music...I'd like to hear more." OR Did your brain think... "I don't like that music, I don't want to hear it NO MORE!!" Ok...let me break it down like this. You know how there are jingles in commercials? Sometimes you hear them and they are 30 seconds and you say to yourself, "I don't like those musical sounds I just heard". OR You hear 30 seconds of musical sounds and say, "You know what??? I like those sounds that I heard" Ok so to summarize. The question isn't: Do you think that based off the 30 seconds of Headlong Flight that this album will be the greatest RUSH album of all time and HF will be the greatest song in the history of music? The question is also not did you enjoy the lyrics and the singing? (that's kinda a trick question because there were no lyrics or singing) It was simply...30 seconds of a RUSH song called Headlong Flight was released. When you heard those 30 seconds (without vocals and lyrics)...did you like it or did you not? I can keep trying to break this down to make it clearer if you need me to. I've had a horrible day and breaking down this simple poll question has been the highlight of my terrible day so I could go on and on and on. In fact, I might try to think of more ways to explain the poll question, the intent behind it, what the meaning of it was....OR is? (you see it could be "was" or "is" and I could go into that to make it clearer I'd even be willing to explain what a "poll" is and the reason they are made. Whatever, it's cool. Just let me know. (And if it will make you feel better because of this sarcastic response, I will allow you to define me as a "poll" (that would be what's called a double entendre which I could also explain as well) So from all that...I think you now understand that this poll question is really after you strip it down to it's core: "Will RUSH play Headlong Flight on their 3rd tour AFTER they release 2 more albums and will it become the next Tom Sawyer?" That is basically what I am trying to determine with this poll question when stripped down to it's basic elements. How can you not get that?
