I've seen it happen before in other J-shows/films with either Japanese to English or vice versa but I figured Miyazaki movie storytelling language isn't too hard to translate (in the places I found them) so I was surprised by the mistakes. It wasn't that bad...though it wasn't anything to write home about either. If it's on tv, surely it's because of the combo of real world natural disasters + the recent solar eclipse. Yeah that's the one. Nah, it's just on the classic movies channel here. I know on several of the Miyazaki films they have in the extra section a thing with the actors and how they explain how they did the voice work for the American version. They try to get as close to the exact translation as they can but sometimes they have to improvise a bit due to the mouth movements not lining up very well.
