Crispin Glover was a bright spot, I'll give it that much. He stole that movie.

i wasn't sure it was him at first, I thought it was but I wasn't sure until the end credits.

What's with this new trend of not showing any credits till the end of the film these days? Kind of annoys me when I don't know who is in a film before i watch it.

I had no idea Michael Sheen was in it until the ending credits. Ditto his role as the bad guy in Tron: Legacy.

Shame to see him in crap AIW and the Twilight saga because he's a good actor. He's a lucky SOB as well for who he's dating right now *looks at upper left part of sig* and the fact that he knocked up Beckinsale.

It was not as good as when I watched it last....about 20 years ago.... :eh: :eh: Really good in some places, really cheesy in others.

Roxanne Hart was still hot as ever....

I like Sleepy Hollow but haven't seen Season Of The Witch yet. Is it any good?

It's ok, but a bit more of a crusader sword fighting film rather than a Witchfinder General film, which is what I was expecting. You've got the cheesiness of Nick Cage offset by the coolness of Ron Perlman, so that's ok. The setting is really cool, they filmed it in the Austrian alps...

Any classic "Nic Cage losing his sh-t" moments in this movie?

No he manages to keep himself in check, he must have been taking the pills when they did this one.

Cheapo horror featuring a cult of scout lookalikes who go on a stabbing spree in a subway to save souls... :boo hiss:

Nick Cage, armed with his powers of ludicrous over-acting and Nicole Kidman and her impenetrable shield of botox pit their wits against the most bungling, inept gang of burglars the world has ever seen... :eyeroll: :eh:

Thoughts? For me; loved it, own it and one of my fave JC's performances.

I'm not really a Cusack fan to be honest. There's no specific reason for this, he's pretty good, all I can say is I don't look for his films or see his name on a cast list and get too enthralled. In this film I can't fault him, he's solid. I've read this Stephen King story and I don't remember it like this, maybe they expanded it. It starts off quite well, but it quickly turns into an overblown acid trip where you don't know what's real and what isn't. They might have been going for this vibe but to me it completely loses it's spooky atmosphere and ability to chill you. In the end you're just wondering is he still in the room or not.

"Let's have a knock off of Midnight Meat Train!" - said no one ever

That's what it reminded me of, only this was drivel. I think it was a Canadian production, seemed very badly put together. It was a chore to get through, at least the Nick Cage film made me laugh!

Skyfall. I had heard so many times from various friends that this was the "best Bond film ever" etc. It was definitely good but I still think Casino Royale was better. Skyfall had a very simple plot (and that's not really an issue for me) but seemed to be lacking something. I'm not sure what it was lacking though. Very good but not great flick. 3 stars.

There are very very few Burton films that I think are decent but what'd you think of S.Todd duck?

Well let me start off by saying I don't normally like musical productions. I can count on one hand the number of musicals that I like, and those are all classics like Westside Story and Singing in the Rain that most people like. You know the way it goes, two guys walking down the street talking surrounded by people, all at once they start singing a song and all of a sudden all the people start dancing around and singing too. Leaping about, jumping through hoops, swinging from a lamppost doing cartwheels and break dancing on their arse. Then when the song is finished everyone just goes back to what they were doing like nothing happened. That annoys me for some reason. So had I known this one was a musical I wouldn't have watched it. Once I found this out, I was all ready to switch it off, but as I watched it the film sucked me in, little by little, and eventually I must have forgotten all about switching it off.

The story is fun, a quirky little horror tale, and Depp as Sweeney Todd is very effective, also the look of the film is cool with a Jack the Ripper vibe. Johnny Depp sang pretty well (which i didn't expect) in the same accent as he used for the dialogue. The rest of cast were solid too, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham-Carter el al all enjoyable. There's plenty of blood and gore and murder with a creepy atmosphere. Although Depp is a killer you root for him, he's more like an anti-hero than a villain, at first anyway...

All in all yeah it's pretty enjoyable, a good musical horror flick with a satisfying ending too...

Did you not like Sleepy Hollow? That's one of Burton's best films, if not the best.

I don't remember it very well. But I do remember that I didn't think much of it (though not total crap) at the time.

S.Todd wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but it still didn't do much for me (despite the cast being decent...acting AND singing wise).

I liked Sleepy Hollow it was pretty well done feature, with a cool cameo from Christopher Walken as the Headless Horseman (when he has a head). It has a good spooky atmosphere and there's plenty of decent character actors in support.
