Del_Duio Posted January 3, 2013 Share Posted January 3, 2013 The Cabin in the Woods. :D My daughter and her boyfriend watched it last night. She was hiding under the blanket most of the time. Great idea for a movie, and a nice nod to some of the classic Twilight Zone plotlines. The movie script was pretty clever a lot of the time, and it was complex effects-wise. Check the end credits for the number of stuntmen used. :o I think I mentioned this once before, but that cabin looks almost identical to the one seen in the Evil Dead series.Were there any other things in that movie that seemed to pay homage to it? JohnnyBlaze Posted January 4, 2013 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Saw 4 flicks on the long-haul flight home... 1) Perks of Being a Wallflower: Not as bad as I thought it'd be. Decent soundtrack. 2) Trouble with the Curve: The great Clint Eastwood in a slow, mediocre movie. 3) House at the End of the Street: Rubbish. Started out okay then fell and failed miserably at the end. Positive remark—Elisabeth Shue is still attractive after all these years. The end. 4) Taken 2: I didn't see Taken part 1 but it turns out I didn't need to. Basic kidnapping action film where the good guy kicks all kinds of ass before winning the grand prize. I hated the good guys, especially Orlando Bloom who got through a ton of battles with about a million bad asses, demons, monsters, you name it, and never got a scratch. Same with the hobbits, escaping giant spiders, volcanoes, etc just annoying and lame. The villains were just stooges in this, a set-up for the "heroes". I don't care if it's allegorical, it's lame. Squirming in my seat I was. And why couldn't Bloom's character get at least knocked on his ass at least once just in the interests of balance? Where he was concerned there was no drama at all, he was just a blonde robot who absolutely never failed, no matter who or what or how many he was up against. He was a skinny elf terminator. He even beat a giant armoured elephant without so much as batting an eyelash! I mean come on it's cartoon stuff...maybe that's it, it was a live action cartoon... It's just 2 hours of Eastwood being cranky due to old age except unlike this movie, Gran Torino is actually a good movie. Only saw it for that whole baseball plot. I had forgotten that seeing a scary movie in a theater makes them better. It was very good, but the ending was a bit weak. It was definitely worth the two bucks.
