Goodfellas

Was on TV earlier, watched it for the first time in a while. Reminded me how great of a movie it is. One of my favorites smile.gif

One of my favorite scenes, visually, is when Henry and Jimmy are sitting in the diner and the camera does a dolly zoom. Love it.

Also love the bird's eye shot of Tommy lying on the ground, his blood oozing over the tiles tongue.gif

Who else loves the movie?

Probably my favorite gangster movie, aside from maybe The Godfather, Pt. II. Just a thoroughly well crafted movie.

My personal favorite scene is the one in which Henry is about to make a big coke deal and everything goes crazy and falls apart as he gets arrested one last time. Ray Liotta and Lorraine Bracco give some of the best performances i've ever seen in a film.

Just a great movie. biggrin.gif

Yeah, I like when Henry and his wife have that breakdown after she tells him she flushed all of the coke.

Really most of the scenes are awesome tongue.gif

Oh also, best shot of DiNiro ever, that slow approach as he takes a drag on a cigarette to the tune of Sunshine of Your Love... and thinks about what hes gonna do with Morrie, etc....

That part is awesome smile.gif

Yeah, great scene for sure.

I have watched it so many times in the last couple months I'm burned on it for a while. It was on last night and I couldn't do it again. LOL

I was watching this on AMC yesterday as well. I never really appreciated the coda to Layla that much until I first saw this movie several years ago. Marty has a knack for finding the right song for a scene in his movie. My favorite scene is where Bracco let's the mistress' neighbors know what a whore she is.

I prefer Casino over this though. That's my favorite Scorsese film ever.

After Goodfellas, you don't listen to these songs the same way laugh.gif Like that bit from Layla, always have to picture the scene when I hear it...

and Casino is great too!

Really? I like Casino, but among the Scorsese movies I've seen, I'd rank it like 5th or 6th.

I think Goodfellas is WAY better, but I also think it's the best gangster movie ever, even better than both Godfathers, Scarface and Donnie Brasco, and those are all pretty amazing.

My wife cannot understand my endless love for this movie. I will literally watch it every time I come across it on tv. She appreciates how well made it is, but doesn't enjoy the violence in it. It really is the polar opposite of a chick flick.

Great film, probably my favorite gangster movie ever. Very well written, acted and directed, just about as perfect of a movie you'll see. I can't believe nobody's mentioned Joe Pesci yet? His perforance was just as good as everyone else's and he provided some pretty funny moments to. I just love the loose cannon character he portrayed.

I've watched this movie so many times I notice all the continuity mistakes in the editing. Nitpicking aside, it's a movie I never tire of watching.

Scorcese's films are loaded with continuity errors. "The Departed" has plenty. It's almost like they've become part of his style, especially with his "move the action along" style of editing.

IMO one of the best, if not the best mob movies made. I've seen my fair share, this is the one I return to.
