Best Rush Experience
Rush opening the Irvine show with "The Spirit Of Radio" and me and my friends screaming with unfettered joy along with the thousands of other fellow Rush fans. I nearly came to tears; it was so powerful. That is the power of Rush! :D

I can't believe The Office got snubbed at the Emmy's this year...I like Modern Family and whatnot, but It should have gotten at least one for writing or something. And Steve Carell getting snubbed upsets me more than anything. He deserved that emmy. He acted his heart out last season. It's especially upsetting considering he hasn't won one as Michael Scott ever, in these past 6 years. Ugh. Stupid award shows.

3 favorite Pink Floyd songs?
Ted Barchetta replied to Lost In Xanadu's topic in Music Of The Spheres
1. Echoes 2. Time 3. Mother Funnily enough, these are my three favorite David Gilmour guitar solos. ;P -
To me, it's always been a tie between Jimi Hendrix, Dave Gilmour and Duane Allman, but recently Duane has come up on top. He's my absolute favorite musician. He's opened up a floodgate of guitar ideas in my fledgeling musical brain, AND he's shown me how the blues should be played on a guitar. His soloing and sheer technique floor me every time I try to play along to an Allman Brothers song. He just plays the guitar like no one else. Who's your personal guitar hero?

Probably my favorite gangster movie, aside from maybe The Godfather, Pt. II. Just a thoroughly well crafted movie. My personal favorite scene is the one in which Henry is about to make a big coke deal and everything goes crazy and falls apart as he gets arrested one last time. Ray Liotta and Lorraine Bracco give some of the best performances i've ever seen in a film. Just a great movie.

I know i'm in the vast minority here, but i'm voting for Return of the Jedi. It's the grand finale, it sums up everything about Star Wars and puts you on an emotional roller coaster far better than Empire did. I love ESB, but it's such a downer. It may "technically" be the best one, but it's not my favorite. Jedi perfectly combines all of the whimsical feelings and adventure you get from A New Hope and all of the brooding darkness and sense of impending doom from Empire. Also, the score is by far the best out of the six. Just absolutely phenomenal in every way. And yeah, Ewoks are adorable. There, I said it.

I have: A 2009 Squier Affinity Telecaster and an Ibanez AFS-75 Artcore. Both pretty great guitars. My favorite is a tie between this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d0/FenderTelecaster.jpg/200px-FenderTelecaster.jpg And this: http://cdn.mos.musicradar.com/images/Product%20News/Guitar/Feb08/gibson-memphis-alex-lifeson-es-335-copy-530-100.jpg Both of which I sadly do not own at the moment. Absolutely beautiful music
Ted Barchetta replied to Good, bad, andrush's topic in Music Of The Spheres
All the more beautiful when you realize he was completely deaf when he wrote this. Just stunningly gorgeous. Never fails to tear me up. I remember reading somewhere that even Chopin himself said that he "would never again write such a beautiful melody" -
Lightly toasted 6-inch wheat roll, roast beef and/or turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, olives and mustard. Yummmmm.

QUOTE (CygnusX-1Bk2 @ Apr 5 2011, 07:37 PM)One thing I will say is relax. I am sensing a tad bit of tension. Some of what I am seeing is some over reaching on phrases that are very quick. Basically you're attempting faster passages than you have learned coordination for. This is why you need to relax. See if you can understand the phrase and slow it down then increase the speed to clean up the coordination between both hands. One thing that helps me is to try and pick up each note one at a time. It is a tedious process but extremely helpful. What I will do is pick out the notes I am having difficulty picking out and just try to play that note only with the song. I do this with picking out bass notes and guitar chords too. Put your reference track in a loop mode just playing the area you need to work on. Once I know the surrounding or preceding sections I wait for what I am missing and only attempt to play it. Once I find it I reinforce it by doing it a few times before adding what leads up to it. One thing you can do to help your ear is to play adjacent half steps so you can hear the differences between the two tones. There are a couple of places where you are about a half step off. Alex solos are often not so much in a key as emotional phrasing that is almost vocal and definitely rhythmic. Another dextrous exercise is to start on the E string at the first fret on F and play each half step up to G# and move up to the A string doing the same and repeat on each string then do it in reverse then move up a half step and so on. Increase your speed as you go and this will help you tremendously with getting those fast phrases. I'll be sure to take into consideration your pointers; but overall I think I just wasn't feelin' it that day; I didn't really warm up like I should have. I feel like I should re-record it sometime over summer or something. I really appreciate all of this constructive criticism you guys! It's really gonna help me on my ever continuing musical journey. Thanks!
