  1. I LOVE Paul Simon! He's my favorite solo artist - just a brilliant lyricist and musician. Favorite Simon and Garfunkel songs: The Boxer April Come She Will Homeward Bound Mrs. Robinson Favorite Paul Simon songs: You Can Call Me Al Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard Graceland That Was Your Mother
  2. My favorite from this list is Crossroads. That solo is unbelievable. However, my overall favorite Cream song has got to be SWLABR. I just love the feel of that song.
  3. Neither; the glass is twice as large as it needs to be.
  4. I can't believe The Office got snubbed at the Emmy's this year...I like Modern Family and whatnot, but It should have gotten at least one for writing or something. And Steve Carell getting snubbed upsets me more than anything. He deserved that emmy. He acted his heart out last season. It's especially upsetting considering he hasn't won one as Michael Scott ever, in these past 6 years. Ugh. Stupid award shows.
  5. Basically the same as my top 5... 1. Hemispheres (I must have listened to this album 200+ times...) 2. Grace Under Pressure 3. Caress Of Steel 4. Moving Pictures 5. Power Windows
  6. 1. Echoes 2. Time 3. Mother Funnily enough, these are my three favorite David Gilmour guitar solos. ;P
  7. Duane Allman - 'In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed' - Just a searing never-ending masterpiece of fusion-y goodness. It feels like he's telling a story with his guitar. - His slide work in 'Done Somebody Wrong' - his sound and technique floor me every time. David Gilmour - 'Mother' - Gorgeous, short but sweet. Just about the most perfect guitar solo ever. - 'Time' - Gilmour's crowning achievement. - 'Echoes' - So bluesy and full of heartache. Great use of fuzz and delay. Alex Lifeson - 'Kid Gloves' - Playful and fun. It's even one of Lerxst's favs. - 'Hemispheres' (the first solo) - Short and sweet. Just feels right with the atmosphere of the song. - 'Marathon' - The way he negotiates with the rhythm section playing a very tricky 7/8 beat is astonishing. Very tasteful playing. Special mention goes out to Larry Carlton with his solos on Kid Charlemagne - So difficult that even Carlton himself forgot how to play them after a while.
  8. Thanks for the birthday wishes you guys! Really brightened my day.
  9. Duane Allman (Allman Bros) Jimi Hendrix (Duh...) David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) Steve Howe (Yes) Alex Lifeson (Super duh) Pete Townshend (The Who) Eric Clapton (Cream, solo)
  10. I love Van Halen, but I think these guys take the cake as America's Greatest Rock Band: http://israbox.com/uploads/posts/2007-10/1192596375_528582.jpg
  11. The solo in 'Time' gets my vote. Such emotion and expressiveness. I've been chasing that great guitar tone too. All I need is a good delay pedal and I'm there.
  12. Probably my favorite gangster movie, aside from maybe The Godfather, Pt. II. Just a thoroughly well crafted movie. My personal favorite scene is the one in which Henry is about to make a big coke deal and everything goes crazy and falls apart as he gets arrested one last time. Ray Liotta and Lorraine Bracco give some of the best performances i've ever seen in a film. Just a great movie.
