1 of the 7
My two faves other than Rush are the Fixx (of One Thing Leads To Another fame) and Queen. Beyond that, there's way too many to mention, but my favorite genre is New Wave/synth-rock and pop. I like most "classic rock", some mellower 70's stuff, a handful or two of 90's/modern bands, and even some country. The problem is, I like the down-to-earth, everyday-people nature of country, but it's often too conservative/religious for my tastes.

bigalfan
Surprised to see Alice in Chains on so many lists, not because they aren't good and deserving of being on such a list, just surprised. They have such a cool, dissonant harmony sound. No one else like 'em. They are definitely on my 'like a lot' list. Plus, Cantrell is a part time fellow Okie (family ranch). Speaking of AiC and JC, this is pretty good stuff. Wilson nails...well, Wilson, perfectly. Edited July 7, 2011 by bigalfan

Bastille Dave
I have hundreds of favorite bands and on any given week some rise near the top when I listen to a band's catalog. Like right now I'm on a King's X kick. also the Stones right now as well. Perennial faves: Rush, 80's Metallica, Beatles, 80's Maiden, 70's/early 80's Priest, late 70's/early 80's Scorpions, April Wine.

I'm going to their Aug. 20th concert in the Poconos - it's been two years, and I can't wait. They so need to get that new album out!

Yes ELP Pink Floyd Frank Zappa Gov't Mule Dave Matthews Jethro Tull Chicago Transatlantic Steely Dan Most of this is judged by the amount bootlegs I have for each, but also (like in the case of Steely Dan) the sheer musicality of the band!
