Last night Pia fell victim to the little girl vote.

what's the "little girl" vote?

the teenage girls who vote again and again and again for their non-talented boy crushes (Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze). It's pretty much why there's only two girls left in the competition. Seriously, Paul and Stefano are still in this thing?

True 'nuff. But what folks are saying about her overall performance (stage presence) has some merit. She was my wife's favorite until the last performance. Sure, she came out of the ballad shell, but not enough I guess.

yes she definitely needed more time to develope her stage presence.

I'd rather watch a statuesque singer who can blow the roof off the building before I watch someone who lights the piano on fire but delivers a sub-par vocal. I guess I'm the minority, but imo it's a singing competition before anything else.

yes yes. she hit the highs and the lows and everything in between effortlessly. who cares about a stage presence. karen carpenter didn't have a big stage presence and had one of the best voices of all time.

The thing with Pia is that I am almost certain that some producer will or already has grabbed her up and will groom her to turn her into superstar right up there Celine Dion. She definitely has the voice and the looks, all she needs is the stage presence.

I mentioned that earlier and I completely agree. Think about it - she's already been working with Jimmy Iovine for weeks and weeks. He's worked for decades with the best in the business. He IS one of the best in the business. As far as moving forward from here, it's not an issue.

I just wanted to hear her on the remaining weeks of Idol. Idol lost, not Pia. And the judges know it.

now that i think about it, sometimes it can be a good thing not to be an American idol winner. it's great for publicity, scoring a contract, and making some nice money in the beginning but if you're good enough to make it to the top or go far with a great voice and not have to rely on winning a contest, now that's something special. i guess only the people who get eliminated might look at it like that but for some it's a better route.

The problem with the judges that they have now is that they judge more with their hearts than with their minds. Simon would never have gone for using the save when they did and make good points of why not to use it then. The show really lacks in credibility without Simon, IMO.

Everything Stefano sings sounds like there should be an "Oh Lucy" after every line laugh.gif

While I would have been thrilled to see Stefano leave (*cough* boy band reject *cough*), Pia I thought was vastly overrated.

I've been tired the last 3 weeks when I've watched Idol, and each week I started nodding out when Pia started singing. I'm thinking maybe it wasn't a coincidence. I'd watch it back when I was awake, and I'm really not seeing what everyone else is. My wife and I both think she's good, but not great, and she's pretty boring.

The shocker for me last night was Jacob in the bottom three. He hasn't been as exciting as was initially the last couple of weeks, but he's still one of the very best.

For my money the final (if it was based solely on talent) would be Casey & Jacob, with James sneaking into third. The way it's going, the final may be Casey and James.

Casey is the man.

rushgoober, I'm with you.  I was getting no real vibe from Pia.

and yes Casey is da man!

But I am NOT getting what the hype is about Jacob.  I can hardly stand to watch him.

my wife has never been that into Jacob either, but i think he's great. yes.gif

honestly, he wouldn't make the kind of music I'd be interested in (unlike Crystal Bowersox who I'm very curious to see what she'll come up with), but he is phenomenally talented IMHO.

I get angry when Paul performs. I don't know what it is. CANT.STAND.HIM!!!!

Lauren was "eh"

Scotty "yawn"

Stefano-there is some talent happening, but he does NOTHING for me.

Casey was ok, I guess.

Haley-She sounded kinda strange singing that song last night, but I like her.

Jacob- 062802puke_prv.gif

James- YAY! LOVE HIM! common001.gif

What's really funny is the very first episode we watched with Scotty in it my wife and I both said "he looks like a cross between Alfred E. Neuman and George Bush" !!!
