  1. Autographed edition now available for pre-order on Backstage Club for $40. I'm a bit annoyed at this. It was disappointing that the book/show package was not autographed like BBBOB, but I respected that maybe he just wasn't doing signed copies this time. Now I'm wondering if the signed version is actual wet signature. If so, I would consider buying a second copy and donating my unsigned to my local library. But I'll be needing Geddy to personally deliver some Rush Golden Ale for complete forgiveness
  2. Well, thank you my unknown friend! Appears to be sold out. That said, a ticketed event like that isn't really what I was thinking. Guess I thought it was just an informal word of mouth bar to drink and hang with fellow Rush fans. I woulda bought Donna Halper a shot tho. Her loss!
  3. What's the pre-game event for Boston? Quick search, can't find anything. TIA
  4. This looks great and I mean no disrespect to the authors, but I sometimes amuse myself by noticing discrepancies or largely irrelevant things that don't add up or probably aren't true. Like this excerpt: "An avid motorcyclist, Peart was known to ride his bike alongside the Rush tour bus from venue to venue..." I doubt very much that Neil was anywhere near the tour bus when he was on his bike. ;) I'm not a drummer (yet), but I will buy this edition. :Neil:
  5. I still feel really bad about that. The Original Snapchat.
  6. Why not? Haven't really been following because I wasn't planning on going. Well, perhaps I exaggerate, the only thing I know is that Sick Drummer mag dropped out and made it sound like things were unorganized, but of course who knows what the real story is. It would just be good if they actually gave us some sort of info as to who will be there, at least tell us someone! And I know, it's about the experience of being with other fans and all that, but still. At one point when I was looking into this (when tickets were going on sale) I came across a site that DID list some speakers and performers. I didn't recognize any of them (but then I don't get out much, ha ha). I can't find it now, so maybe it was taken down and that is part of what the Sick Drummer statement is alluding to? Anyway, hope it all works out and is a good time for all.
  7. My google feed had a headline yesterday regarding Neil and all I saw was something about a wheelchair. I sensed it would not be something I wanted to read about, so didn't. I assume it was this interview and it seems from comments here, I made the right choice for me. My mother in law is in her final time with lung cancer, and it's going to be very painful for our family. Just my emotions this week with Neil's passing, whom I respected and who's art means a great deal to me, but is someone I never even met, tells me I am nowhere near prepared, but I also don't think anyone really can be.
  8. To dexter and the admins, Thanks for helping me "hold some faith in the goodness of humanity".
  9. Your comment about visiting Neils website hits home with me. I found out about Neil from my wife calling me after I left work on my way to meet some friends for happy hour. Just prior, probably within an hour of Neil's website being updated with the photo, I had visited the site...because I hadn't in probably at least a year, and hadn't heard anything here or anywhere about what he might have said, published, done,...etc. Also, I had visited here (I admit I haven't as much since the band retired), and the Rush.com website as well. There was something compelling me to seek an update on my favorite band...or at least the retired members thereof. And there was more. Also in the waning hour of my Friday workday, I had to call the customer service line for a subscription I have and the guy asked me for my email address. It contains YYZ, and he immediately asked if I was a Rush fan. Of course, and so was he. We had a nice chat unrelated to why I had called before getting on with that business. :) Having someone pick up on my Rush references does happen, but it's not all that common...as many of us I'm sure can both lament and wryly be proud of. But wait, there's more (just pay additional handling charge). My son has a Hemisphere's concert poster in his room that I gave him several years ago, hanging proudly. The top had come loose and I noticed recently it had fallen, hanging only by the bottom two corners, white backgound blaring the silent blasphemy of no more music (I can hear that poster whenever I look at it). I can't say for sure, but I think I noticed it on Tuesday :( He had it back up by Friday night...I shall keep him around a bit longer, I think. :) I've been rather angry since hearing of Neil's passing at the unfairness and have had that expected dismissal about there being any 'god' or 'universe' or 'power' that sets the wheels in motion. And I do wonder if Neil, or anyone's soul, or essence is still among us, or if my experiences above are mere coincidence. Neil helped me to think that way, dammit all to nonexistent hell...
  10. And yes, I posted this to take some of the attention off Neil, cause he would have wanted it that way.
  11. While we are appropriately honoring and remembering your brother, we also know that you are hurting. You three have been such an admired musical family for so many. Thank you for what we know in our hearts you did to support Neil, not only in his recent years of struggle, but during his prior time of loss and grief. And also for all those years when you supported him, and each other, in living out your passion for music and, let's face it- for giving that goofy brainiac a chance. :sundog: Your fans are thinking of you and holding you in our hearts while you grieve. :rose:
  12. My wife called me on my way to meet some friends for a beer. Then my phone started lighting up and I've been sitting in my truck taking this in and contemplating for a long time. I may have more words for this thread later, but my biggest thoughts have been that if it affects me like it has (somewhat surprising and awkwardly for someone I've never met), I cannot imagine the pain his family and Geddy and Alex are going through. Too young, way too young, and from the stupid rumor that some of us are so used to dismissing since back in the early 80's. Tonight I shall watch a concert in tribute and sip The MaCallan 18. My wife gave me a bottle for my 50th and it is only for certain occasions of honor and respect. Rest in Peace, Neil and thank you for your talents, words, inspiration and humor. You are already sadly missed. Mike
  13. The Rush.com listing still shows 'Coming soon' for the Montreal event (June 4), but if you go to this site, you can get tix now, and there is an 'early bird' special that includes an extra ticket for the event (so 2 tickets, one book). Figured I'd give a heads up so Rush fans could get tix who may be relying on the first link. http://theatrerialto.ca/en/event/drawn-quarterly-presents-geddy-lee-presentation-signing/?instance_id=545
