Drumnut
QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Apr 9 2010, 11:57 AM)QUOTE (Jaye @ Mar 30 2010, 09:06 AM)This isn't a great pic, but this is my new baby.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v250/Jett_Moonwing/1Subalbum/New.jpg I 'christened' him today with I Know What I Like followed by Aqualung. (Which he loved! ) I have yet to find a name for him though... I must get a better picture sometime soon because this one doesn't do justice to the gorgeous colour! And my stupid reflection doesn't help! that's cool! this still breaks my heart. Here's a pic of me in '79 playing my Gibson Grabber. For some stupid reason I sold it a couple of years later. They discontinued it in '82. gotta love the fashion though http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs127.snc3/17474_100638809969298_100000695377443_16252_3768333_n.jpg That Gibson Grabber is nice, my Father owned a Ripper for years and finally sold it a year ago. I decide to pick up bass AFTER, of course, my Father decided to sell his Gibson Ripper. I played it a little bit and now that I've been playing bass more, the more I think about it, that Ripper was a nice axe, I'd kill to have that thing right now! I could be jammin' with that Ripper rather than the Squire Jazz bass I am now. Oh well, story of my life, always a day late and a dollar short. Cinderella Man
just got these two, i bought the Ricky in march, and my son bought the Geddy 2 weeks ago. http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac267/DanL1299/th_103.jpg
analog guy
I'm an imposter.... I posted in the drums thread, which is probably where I really belong. But I do a bit of bass on the side. I write my own stuff and a lot of it is on bass, so I got me this nice little Jazz for my home studio. http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt313/mrose1977/jazzbass1.jpg This isn't a Geddy, just an American standard jazz.... I felt like too much of a poser to get a Geddy bass. For whatever reason, the fret dots are easier on my eyes than the big blocks anyway. The first two things I figured out on it were Ghost Rider and Something for Nothing.
Gilbertk
I started saving up for my first bass in July of 2007 after seeing Geddy in Atlanta. I bought my first bass and began playing that December. Still loving every minute, and the new challenges I find in Geddy (and other's) lines. Bass: Red Samick Greg Bennett Fairlane FN-1 (Rotosound Swing 66 strings) "Rig" Fender Rumble 15 10in Combo Amp Some cheap Peavey Combo Amp Behringer Bass V-Amp (used to link Fender and Peavey amps) Monster Cables I use Abelton Live 7 to record... I would have to come up with some kind of "cover" after removing the original bridge - this is the only thing holding me up... tell me about your setup, and how you determined the proper position of the bridge. I already had one added to my 62' Jazz, and man, that thing really kicks with the sustain... notes on the low E string will fill any room with a mountain of sound - its massive reverberations! micgtr71
I had a 79 Ric that was a photo negative of the one Geddy played. The bass was yellowed with cigarette stains from all the clubs it had been in from its previous owner. It was fun to play, but just wouldn't stay set up right. The neck had some issues so I got rid of it. From there I went to a Steinberger L-2-see where this is going? Anyway, I got rid of the Stein about 10 years ago. Over the years I have had several P-basses, two Musicmans, a Tobias, a Modulus, a custom graphite necked fretless, and a Jazz bass. I played in a Chicago/Tower of Power-type band and found that the jazz worked the best. Since around 2005, its the only bass I own. It's a 95 American Standard and it is stock. WIDE-ANGLE WATCHER
I just got my first bass guitar!!!! I am a new bass player and have only played some piano and a little acoustical guitar in the past. I am having a blast while re-learning standard musical notation and especially having fun with some basic bass tabs. I got this starter guitar off Craigslist with a 30w practice amp for only $100.00. The kid's father had died and he was selling all his stuff out of a storage unit. A brand new (year? I don't know), never been played Aslin Dane (Fender copy). I took it to Guitar Center to have the inotation set up and the tech said that it looked like it had barely been touched. http://www.newbergmusiccenter.com/bass/Ajb24_sm.jpg Aslin Dane: AJB-24-----------------It came with a gig bag, two sets of new Roto Sound 66LD strings, a Korg tuner and a Big Muff Pi, strap and stand.....And the amp!....all for $100.00. I had $400.00 in my pocket hoping to get a cheap guitar and amp. My gear may be cheap but I think I still got a great deal for a starter bass package. asp324
I know it's been a while for me here, but this morning I received a 2007 Warwick Corvette Standard Ash. 'Tis beautiful. I'll get some pictures later.

They pop up on there used for anywhere from $600 and up, though I've seen them lower. As for brand new, you've got your slew of internet stores: musiciansfriend.com music123.com and my personal favorite americanmusicalsupply.com, which allows you to pay in installments. Don't forget your local GC outlet or craigslist.

CLPalacioATX
My name is Christian. I'm new here. I play bass and keys and I am a Rush fan. [support group clap] My bass rig, essentially, has not changed since 1989: Rackrider RR-15 Nady 201 VHF wireless Gallien-Krueger 1200 SEB (switching MOSFET stereo amp, w/compressor, limiter, chorus, Active EQ, Balanced L-R and Direct outputs, EFX loop) Korg DT-1 Pro rackmount tuner Hartke 410 XL Trace Elliot 1153T (added 1996 for low end warmth) http://www.beyonddarwin.com/images/rig.jpg Basses loaded: 1989 Soundgear, lipstick red (first year of Soundgear) 198x Washburn Series 1000 (Status licensed) (broken truss rod ) 1990 Kubicki Ex Factor Steinberger Spirit doubleneck (bass, gtr) http://www.beyonddarwin.com/images/DSC01119.jpg I am not really a guitar player but I play one on TV so I will post them here instead of the gtr thread since I only strum few chords as needed. The Roland gtr synth works. I also have a 1988 Gallien-Krueger 250ML amp. http://www.beyonddarwin.com/images/DSC01120.jpg

"Lipstick red." Nice. Hi, there, Christian. You'll definitely like it here. I'm still a noob when it comes to any instrument. All the same, I am also a passionate Rushian. I'll never be Geddy Lee, but I still want to play bass. He's my role model...and my current crush.
