GeddyRulz
QUOTE (Rush! @ Dec 9 2010, 12:24 PM) Also, I find this pretty funny: Every song on Billy Joel's Greatest Hits Played Simultaneously! It somehow sounds like a run-of-the-mill Green Day song. Funny how after four minutes the remaining songs become easier to hear, as some tracks finish and leave behind only the longer songs. Sounds like the last few songs are "Piano Man," "New York State of Mind," and "Captain Jack" is the last man standing.

raptorcox
Grew up listening to him. Maybe the only artist that the entire family listened to and still does.
J2112YYZ
I've liked him for a long time. His songs are very relatable and he was very good songwriter for many years. I have most of his stuff and still listen to it every now and then. My main musical tastes are in hard rock and metal but Billy Joel is one of those "normal" artists that I listen to every once in awhile when I want a change of pace from the heavier stuff I listen to. He brings balance to my listening
RushFanForever
Billy Joel is apparently a Rush fan. In an article with Neil Peart in Spin magazine from 1992, it mentions that Billy Joel apologized to Geddy for missing the bands shows in L.A. awhile back. micgtr71
Bits and pieces. Some of his music is amazing and some of it is just hard to take for me. We didn't start the fire is one of the latter.
GeddyRulz
Who remembers these two albums being displayed in stores at the same time? http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov200/drd000/d066/d06620x8x27.jpg http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20070514135935/lyricwiki/images/thumb/d/d3/Billy_Joel_-_KOHUEPT_(Live_in_Leningrad).jpg/180px-Billy_Joel_-_KOHUEPT_(Live_in_Leningrad).jpg They were released the same year, and both had red-on-red album covers. It used to screw me up. "Oh, there's Hold Your Fire... wait, that's Billy Joel!"

It used to screw me up. "Oh, there's Hold Your Fire... wait, that's Billy Joel!" I remember that! A lot of albums were released in September 1987. Great month for new music from classic bands, particularly Rush, Yes, and Pink Floyd (even though these three albums were considered weak by the hard core fans). Then there was Michael Jackson's "Bad" and PF's "Momentary Lapse of Reason" also released the same day as HYF. Eurythmic's "Savage" and Prince also had new stuff around that time. iluvgeddy05
I really like Billy Joel, though I have really tired of this radio tunes. The deep-cuts that aren't played on the radio are great though. One of my faves is Honesty.
