I know I'm in the minority, but I don't find this guy funny.

Yesterday, my brother and I went to my parents house to watch the game with my dad. The trailer for Green Hornet comes on and I say "wonder how he'll work drugs into this movie." My brother asks what I meant and I said that all his comedy is based off drug use, which I don't find funny at all. My brother then counters with "Knocked Up was about getting a chick pregnant, not drugs" - he must have missed the first half of the movie!

After seeing what drugs can do to my uncle and a couple friends, I've never had a need to try them, or even the least bit of curiosity. My uncle was a brilliant man who can barely walk and put together a sentence today.

All his comedy is certainly not based on drug use - that's just not true.

All things with Seth Rogen I loved or seriously liked:

Superbad

Knocked Up

The 40 Year Old Virgin

Zack and Miri Make A Porno

Fanboys

Stepbrothers

Freaks & Geeks (tv show)

Undeclared (tv show)

Funny People

He can be hilariously funny, but he's also a great dramatic actor too.

Yeah, he's been in some movies that sucked too like Pineapple Express, and especially Observe & Report ( 062802puke_prv.gif ), but otherwise he's one of the best things to happen to American comedy in a long time along with Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, Steve Carell, etc. Love him to death! yes.gif

Yeah, I know not ALL of it is, but it just seems like in 40yr old Virgin, Knocked Up, and others... that's what it was all about.

basically what I was saying is joking about drug use does not = funny to me.

I understand that you don't like him, and that's fine, I just think the drug usage thing is a bit exaggerated.

Most of Seth Rogen's scenes in 40 Year Old Virgin don't involve drugs, and in Knocked Up he learns to be more responsible, which means by the end he's doing a lot less drugs. Even still most of the jokes aren't about drugs.

In Zack and Miri Make A Porno, Funny People and Superbad, all of which he's the main character or has a huge role, he doesn't do drugs at all, but there is some drinking sometimes. The only movie of his where I really think DRUGS is Pineapple Express as that's what the movie is essentially about. I really didn't care for that one myself.

Another reason some of Rogan's roles/humor are drug and alcohol releated is because he was still pretty young himself with a lot of his roles, he's only 28 right now. His roles were written for his specific age. In Freaks & Geeks and Undeclared he was a playing a high shcool and colloege kid so the humor refelects that.

In The 40 Year Old Virgin he's just a 24 year old guy who's intrested in getting laid and not much else. In Knocked Up he's a young man who learns to be more responsible and become an adult becuase he has a child on the way.

If anything the humor in his characters is right on with the age he is. Because when you're young, you don't have too many conserns in life besides getting wasted and laid laugh.gif

And I even enjoyed Pineapple Express and Observe and Report!

Pineapple Express wasn't my particular cup of tea, but I can understand people liking it.

Observe and Report, however, I thought was really horrible - cruel, awful humor. I'd rate it down there with bad movies like Dodgeball and The Happening for pure awfulness. My wife and I actually walked out of the theater about 15 minutes before it was over because we just couldn't take it anymore. We kept hoping it would get better, and it didn't. Then we were just waiting for it to end, and it wouldn't. Later on I watched the end of it on cable and it was as bad, if not worse, than the rest of the movie.
