Earthshine Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Alright, so I keep hearing that this one and that one is the "King Of Rock 'n' Roll". Well who is it?
ozzy85 Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Lordy, dude. Hmmm. Elvis was there, but he gave it up soon. Though I dig his '70's tuff totally. Chuck Berry was the first and steadfast Rock'n'Roll king. Page? I like him, but if we gotta go 1970 on this, Iommi.

Elvis died properly on his "Throne." Saying that though I too love Seventies Elvis. It's all about "Suspicious Minds." Great tune. I would take Buddy Holly over Elvis any day for the "KING." The dude played the Apollo for God's sake. That was cutting edge back in the day. Signed, "American Pie"
Imaginos Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 The King is dead... His name was Jimi Hendrix. R.I.P.
rushgoober Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 It would have to be the man who fused rock and roll with classical in a way the world will never forget. http://files.blogter.hu/user_files/113253/Zenei/Falcoamadeus.jpg

ReRushed Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 There is no one "King of Rock 'n' Roll"! Too many individuals contributed to the formation. But, I think more than any other seminal Rock 'n' Roll artist, Chuck Berry really defined the template used by everyone after him. Lyrics, musicianship and showmanship. And he wrote his songs. Listen to the words, listen to the guitar solos and do the duck walk. There would be no Lennon...or Jagger...or Townshend...or Page...or Hendrix...
apetersvt Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I too will have to go with Jimi Hendrix. Of those listed, I'd vote for Jimmy Page.

metaldad Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 QUOTE (PhilipYYZ @ Nov 11 2010, 12:20 PM) Jimmy Page
Earthshine Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 I should have also had Buddy Holly, Bill Haley and Jimi Hendrix and Pete Townshend. My vote went to Jimmy Page. Jimi Hendrix would be a close 2nd.
