Misheard RUSH lyrics

Have you ever misheard or thought a word was something it actually isn't? After 5 years of being a Rush fan (and having it as my favorite song) I learned that in Subdivisions "The timeless soul attraction" is actually, "the timeless OLD attraction". Additionally, I also never knew "the suburbs have no charms to soothe the restless dreams of YOUTH". I always thought it was "YOU".

Can you guys come up with any?

Goin for the obvious...

Bastille Day - the lyric is, "... let them eat cake.."

often heard as "Lemony Cake"

Me too, I just realised that a few months ago.

I always thought the Force Ten lyrics "tough times demand tough talk" was "tough times the man tough talks."

In Tom Sawyer I thought :But change is" was "Oh Changes".

I've always misheard some lyrics in "A Passage to Bangkok"

Breathing smoke in Lebanon

We burn the midnight oil

The Trade Winds of Afghanistan (yes, Trade Winds) laugh.gif

Actual lyric:

Wreathed in smoke in Lebanon

We burn the midnight oil

The fragrance of Afghanistan

Wave after wave will flow with the tide,

And bury the world as it does.

Tide after tide will flow and recede

Leaving life to go on as it was...

Wave after wave, we flow with the tide

And bury the world as it does

Tied and retied, we flow at great speed

leaving life to go on as it was.

An ex friend of mine always thought that Natural Science had the following line:

"The most endangered species, BEYOND THIS BAND"

It was such a great feeling to tell him it really is:

"The most endangered species, THE HONEST MAN"

My mis-quote has always been in Subdivisions (and I think it should be!!!jk)

"Any escape might help to PROVE

The unattractive truth"

real lyric:

"Any escape might help to SMOOTH

The unattractive truth"

That's how I used to hear it!

And in "Passage to Bangkok":

"Our first stop is in bold guitar..." (should be "Bogota")

Followed by 'to check the onion fields'. laugh.gif

"we've been smoking Lebanon"

In Driven I thought Geddy was singing:

"Driven to the edge of a guitar chord" eyesre4.gif

When really it's:

"Driven to the edge of a deep, dark hole"
